Just wondering, do you still take the morning or evening Newspaper? It is after all the 21st century. Computers and Smart phones have been invented and not only solely intended for phone calls.

Well yes I do I get the paper daily Why cause its nice some times to read. also it keeps people employed that work for the paper and the delivery guy.

I have been on a few cruises and back in the day we all survived with out cell phones and internet . Work is work it will be there when you get back...

Oh and for the what if something happens at home... It was simple you gave your family the name of the ship and the cruise line # they were able to contact the cruise line and than the ship ...

We have seen what the cell phone era is doing to us.

Radio killed the music store

Cell phones I pads ect killed social skills.

Was on a cruise last year 3 people sat on their phones all night at dinner. even when the waiter was trying to take orders they did not even pay attention ( i know it was because they were sitting with me)

I do a lot of social media too much actually but thats my job. But on vacation its time to relax.

Has anyone seen the numbers on Apple picking on cruise ships.. Im sure it happens daily.

I rather hold the piece of paper with whats going on that worry about where i am going to put my cell phone if i want to go in the pool or just leave my bag on a deck chair as i get a drink or food.

Sorry guess im just Old school

Keep it in Print Screw the HUB cell phone off on Vacation No one is that important

Good grief. Really buddy? Do you not get that it is possible to use a cell phone for things other than phone calls and the internet? I have no problems disconnecting while on vacation, but I still use my phone for its camera, as an alarm clock, etc. So it's really no big deal to also use it to access the FunTimes as well. I'm more than happy to help Carnival save the environment.

LOL.... I take the paper. Actually two, the local paper and USA Today. I'm 49 and I like to read the paper. I still have cable TV too :-0 I also have a smart phone, i-pad, laptop and desktop. It's really all the same information just difference ways of receiving it.

When I go on vacation... I unplug. Phone goes in the safe. It's the best week of the year.

Just because you like to do this doesn't mean you are not in the 21st century.

Maybe it's because we have been cruising since the 80's. There were no smart phones then. It was really getting away. Slowly, "getting away" is losing it's meaning. If it's not already gone.

This was totally unnecessary! Everyone has the right to turn off their own cell phone and not use it or to leave it on and use it during a cruise. Why is his choice wrong? He isn't pushing it on you. Yes, I have a camera and a clock on my cell phone. However, mine is also turned off and put in the safe. I carry a camera and I have a little travel alarm clock. I don't need my phone at all. I don't want to have to worry about my cell phone. I love the little tear off part of the Fun Times. I highlight what I am interested in and keep it with me. I also don't have to worry about who might take my little sheet like I would my cell phone.

I get so tired of people acting like their cell phone is the be-all, end-all. There are still many, many people in this country who still have flip phones! To me, the best thing about a cruise is the totally disconnecting part. I wish they didn't have internet access on a cruise ship. It is so nice to see people actually interacting with each other!

Just saw an AT&T commercial where the internet went down in a house and the family sat around wondering what to do to occupy themselves. It was supposed to be about not worrying since AT&T has less internet drops. I saw it as a sad representation of what we have become!

Cheers from one Old School to another!!! Saw the same thing on our last cruise. So sad that people can't be without "The Phone"...LOL! It's an addiction. Nothing against progress but some people are out of control.

I don't think the print will ever completely go away but I can see it being a special request item.

I wouldn't be a fan if they stopped them all together. I wouldn't mind at all if they didn't deliver them and if you wanted one you had to go to GS or the atrium to retrieve it.

It wouldn't bother me either but I expect the option will eventually will be on the card you complete for your room steward in the beginning of the cruise. I would definitely opt out and grab one at gs if needed. I am not a fan of wasted paper.

Ugh. I would hate to have to carry my phone around on a cruise. I know some folks are so used to them that they cannot disconnect, but for those of us that are tethered every day on land, I look forward to that things sitting in the safe for 8 days.

Give me a book, a menu and Fun Times in paper form please.

For me personally, I like the digital format. I will have my phone with me the entire cruise, in airplane mode, because I use it for my primary camera and video camera. Being able to access the Fun Times, deck plans, my S&S account, and hours of the places to eat on the ship is an added bonus and it is free. To me, a welcomed change!!

Is it really free? I would imagine you pay a monthly fee for your phone service. Carnival is just using what you already pay for to their advantage. It's free for them. Or at least a huge money saver for them which I doubt will be passed down.

Accessing printed material and photos on your personal device that they no longer have to print. Believe me, they are all about cost savings. That is why they are a profitable company.

Updating the 1988 bathrooms on the Victory doesn't save them money... So it won't be done...LOL.

I would guess that the masses would prefer digital copies as they carry around devices already especially since wifi access has become affordable for most.

I'm sure it's a savings for Carnival but let's face it printing out stacks of paper is good for no one. I for one is excited that on my upcoming Vista cruise I will not have to sift through others photos to find mine. I always thought it was a silly process in 2016.

Well technically you don't need cell service to access it. Matter of fact you could take out your SIM card or use an old phone, iPad with no GSM service, or iPod touch. But yeah, I totally get what you're saying. It is in fact cheaper to do it online vs printing.

As a big time skeptic before I tried it, I really really liked it on the Glory. But only as a SUPPLEMENT to the printed Fun Times. I am one that prefers reading books and cruise BROCHURES (hear that Carnival - I would like to have a physical book to look at and dream about my next adventure. And I don't want to have to contact a TA for one. I should be able to order it directly from you just like I did with Royal Caribbean. Sure does look pretty on my coffee table)!

I also like to be able to go back and reference my paper Fun Times if I couldn't remember something. And exactly how could I post digital FT for others one here like I do the paper ones? I can't.

So I hope that the traditional ones stay but I do like the features of the digital stuff too. For those that haven't seen the HUB app, it's laid out differently. It's not a pdf of the Fun Times, but more like a TV guide of sorts with time slots and topics and such. I don't know how to describe it.

I am fine with it in both forms as they do complement each other. However, I would be sad to see the paper ones go so those need to stick around.

On the Pride last week, I was surprised to see the shrunken FunTimes and initially thought I would miss the tear off, but I found myself more often checking the HUB app to see "what's happening" and the missing tear off became a non-issue.

I would say that I used the HUB app more than the FunTimes, even though I always had one with me on and off the ship.

It was funny to see most pax and crew with their phones--I guess its the new normal. The HUB app has wonderful potential and could be a valuable cruising tool. Carnival has some work to do on it IMO. Add the mdr menus each day. Let me see my s&s account with all folios on my account showing, not just mine. Put the mapping info on it, Carnival. We like to see where we are, how deep the ocean is, the speed and direction of the winds, the ship speed. And give us the outside temperature. Add the weather info for where we are that day and the next. I could go on and on. But the potential is there.

FYI, I didn't use the messaging feature on this cruise, although it would be perfect when cruising in a group.

I prefer paper version and the last version with the perforated tear off was nice and easy to use; also like keeping a full version as a memento.

I think I currently own four computers, a tablet, and a smart phone, and I think the boss is giving me a second phone very soon. I love going on a cruise and sticking my phone in the safe and tuning out for a few days. Even on other lines that give me free internet I never activate it.

I think it is terrific that there will be an electronic version for those that want to use a phone or tablet; no issue whatsoever. But I prefer the paper for myself.

If they kept the old format, EVERYONE has access to a schedule of activities.

If they want to cut down paper, just make the old format available at Guest Services or make it a choice, like turn-down and ice.

If they require HUB/device format for reference, only those who own or wish to use smart phones can access the schedules. Why should someone be required to have a device and carry it all day to stay up to date?

Sure, it is fine to prefer to use the HUB, but why do you feel the choice is superior for everyone, that your way has to be the right way? That tunnel vision is all too common on this board.

You don't have to be a luddite not to wish to own or carry a smart phone.

And helping Carnival save the environment. . . Yeah, that's why they are doing this. Good one.
