Suite perks tips and tricks

Wish I had known we could drink the stuff in the mini bar and the bottles of water without extra charge. I wish there was a list of what all the suite could provide.

One thing I wish they had was a pamphlet on how to use the coffeemaker. That thing compounds me every cruise in a suite.

Afternoon and evening snacks are to your liking. Just let the butler know what you want. One evening I asked him if we could have X the next evening. In about 5 minutes he was at our door with what I had asked for the next evening. They do try to please.

We traveled with 2 small kids but it was still their job to clean up their toys. No reason for it to be any different than at home. Good habits are to keep.

I don't like to make the personnel's jobs any tougher than they are. We are not neatniks but I also don't want to be a slob just because I am on vacation.

There IS a very complete list of ALL suite perks.

I'm not aware that the alcoholic beverages in the mini-bar contents are included for *any* category. Where did you see this?

As for the soft drinks and the bottled water, yes, as I stated above, if you are in a GV/DOS/OS, then those are included, along with a specified number of full bottles of liquor (6 for GV; 3 for DOS/OS).

Otherwise, I don't think ANY of the contents of the mini-bar (alcoholic or not) are included.

Do you have other information about that?

Thanks.

We have a rough idea on what we plan to tip, both daily and for extras, my question is when do you tip, begging of cruise, at the end, a little every day, after each service?

They have taken all the guesswork out of tipping by adding a daily amount to your credit card. You don't need to think about it anymore, you've met your obligation and then some since it's padded for other NCL purposes.

The DSC (daily gratuity) does not include the Butler or Concierge.

We usually request a lot of extras (meals served en suite, special snacks), and we usually tip generously.

We are happy that we are able to express our gratitude to those who help make our cruise extra special.

This is *not* correct. Your Butler and Concierge is *not* included in the DSC. You should plan to have cash to tip them independently. We also provide our cabin steward an extra gratuity (above the DSC) regardless of our cabin class (and more if we have a large suite).

Is this true, no charge for mini bar items if you are in a suite?

This is *not* correct. Regardless of cabin class, you must pay for all alcohol from the minibar.

If you are in an owners suite (only) sodas, water, and mixers from the minibar are complimentary (along with 3 large bottles of alcohol).

Regular suites and regular Havens room get a single bottle of water on embarkation.

When did they switch to cookies everyday? That's a bummer. We enjoyed the different stuff we got everyday. (Only 1 day was cookies.)

They have *not* switched to cookies every day (unless you request it). You get an assortment of snacks each day.

On our cruise on the Epic last October, our butler would bring in both afternoon snacks and late night snacks (after dinner).

Trivia: On our cruise to Alaska last July, we had a forward facing penthouse suite and spent hours each day whale watching and socializing with other suite guests on their balconies. The #1 favorite snack of our whale watchers was PB&J sandwiches.

We have share holder on board credit, UBP, and casino play credit. My daughter loves to snack, she will be using the butler for snack delivery, will just have to ask for something like fruit instead of cookies every day.

We were in an Aft suite on the Gem and we had fruit basket and they refilled it after we ate some of the fruit all week.

Ask for other things.

Or... ask for "different snacks each day" ;)

We did receive different snacks every day.

I tried asking for specific items on one cruise only. Could have just been the butler, but I will never do that again. We received whatever we asked for, AND the snack of the day!
