No more luggage express

Like the title says.

I just got off the Conquest 5-8 and while on board I asked the service desk for a Luggage Express form. They told me that CCL will no longer offer the service fleet wide starting this particular week.

I will miss this service :(

They said it wouldn't be fleet wide, but did they mention which ships would still have it? I was planning to use it in November since my flight isn't until later in the evening.

I had this confirmed by John Heald this morning. He said the airlines no longer support it. My response was as follows:

I understand these decisions are made taking into consideration some things we, the lowly consumer, may not be privy . However, it would have been nice if Carnival would have made an announcement regarding the discontinuation of the program. This is an inconvenience but at least I have time to make / change plans. If I had found out while on the ship my options would have been even more limited.

I'd like to know as well.

I'm just imagining it means you find the fast luggage carrier, and watch him/her outrun the others.....sure I'm probably wrong though.

Luggage express was a program where you paid a fee and you received all your luggage tags from the airline. You put your luggage out the night before and then the program brought that luggage straight from the ship to the airport and it was put in the plane and hopefully made it home he same time as you.

We have used it many times and love the program since we did not have to go through and check our bags at the airport.

I have checked and NCL also discontinued the program and there is just a note on their page saying it is no longer being offered.

Oh wow! Can't believe I never knew about, or used it. That would've been so cool to use on our upcoming cruise.

It was only used in certain home ports with certain airlines that participated. Disney has something similar called magical express. You check in, get your tickets and luggage is taken and you get it at your home airport.

this is more a logical extension of the lowering of the dress standards. Under the current suggested dress code it is very possible to pack all of your clothing needs into a gym bag sized piece of luggage. Hence no need for special pick up and delivery etc. In fact I can see the day very shortly when there will no longer be a bunch of longshoreman hauling bags to the ship. Everyone will have a carry on bag and that will be it.

Gotta love those Carnival Executives. Always thinking.

Works for me. I go on 7 day cruises with only a 20" carry on sized suitcase and a tote bag. No need for anyone to carry my luggage on or off the ship. I do it myself. Any more than that and you're overpacking IMHO.
