Terrible wait forever drink service in casinos.

I do always have a DOU card and tip at least $1 per drink. I have noticed a few less servers on my last two cruises but found ways to make it work. I walk past the bar on my way in the casino and tell one of the servers what I want and where I will be playing and once I get a drink I tell them keep them coming.

Cheers and happy cruising!

I guess it comes down to money. But that is not fair. Tipping is up to each person and I am sick of people not only on cruise ships having their hand out wanting tips for doing their job.

On the ship the tip is already add but am tired of greedy people who always want more and more. They get their tip but hand out wanting more more more.

Flame me I don't care. But I am tired of being told that if I even want basic services on my cruise I need to tip top tip more more more.

Maybe. I sat next to a woman who didn't tip yet plenty of servers showed up just because of her low-cut smile. I could say that wasn't fair, but I liked her smile too and there was always a server around when I wanted to order. :D

On my last 2 cruises on the Breeze I got my first drink and it was rung up under Cheers not Players Club. I was told that the DOU card drinks count against your 15 drink limit.

So no more waiting on a drink for me. I'll play until I want a drink then go to the bar and sit and drink.

Just off the Conquest last week, and my biggest complaint is the bar service at the tables and slots.

After waiting 30 minutes to order a drink, I had to wait another 30 minutes to have it delivered!

This is just plain unacceptable!

Reading these boards, I noticed more than my complaint about this on other ships.

How many out there have had the same problem?

Can't be any worse than what goes on in the dining rooms, even to get soda.

We have now resorted to stopping by a bar and getting our own and bringing it in with us.

I've had different experiences with casino wait staff:

sometimes the service was too slow,

sometimes it was too bothersome,

sometimes it was just right.

But it was never a big deal.

Yes, that is correct. DOU is pointless if you have Cheers! Casino boss on the Pride last cruise told me I qualified for DOU card but since I already had the Cheers! program she would comp one of my meals at the steakhouse.

Of course, went to the steakhouse the last evening, and the steakhouse had no record of any account from the casino. I'd like to say I was surprised, but I thought the two female managers were dingbats that were more worried about running stupid promotions and giving away free cookies to people that played a total of $5 in a slot machine (while I got none).

To answer OP, I have noticed the decline in service mostly when dinner service is happening. One of the dealers told us that almost all the casino servers are pulled between 5:30 - 9:30 to go work the MDR. I never had a problem getting a drink before 5:00. After that, I walked over to the RedFrog or the Sports Bar and got a drink. Lucky for me, the girl that worked the SportsBar during the day worked Alchemy Bar at night. :)

Sometimes service is lacking but other times, 4 servers will ask you if you want a drink. It depends on staffing and time of day.

I have to say, the majority of time with the DOU card in the casino, I've had very good service. Then there are the few times when you look around and can't see a single server on the floor.

We were on the Conquest in April and the only way to get service was to be first in a chair at most bars. The only one we found that was on top of their game was the Alchemy Bar. I think Carnival has reached the threshold for employee cuts and any kind of normal service. Carnival is the Undercard of Cruising.

I was on the Conquest on a casino fare in April and had the DOU perk issued right away. If I wore the premier players club S&S holder around my neck, the casino servers would spot that and ask me over and over if I wanted something from the bar. It stopped when the servers learned I wasn't an alcohol drinker or when I didnt wear the lanyard.

Could it be that the servers were told to prioritize getting the "casino players club members" drinks first and the rest second or third?

Of course you can always get up, walk to the bar and get a drink. Works for me every time.

Just amazes me how many people sit five foot from the bar or the coffee station, snap their fingers at waiters, and complain that they can't get service.

Sure , get your own drink ,clean your own room in evening what next? Bring your dishes to kitchen?

Most cruises we have the DOU card when the casino opens so we do not get the Cheers program... plus we do order a bottle for the room (cheaper than the Cheers x 2 people).

As for the Steakhouse did you tell them the date and time you were going and make the reservation thru the casino? That's generally the only way the Steakhouse would know the casino was paying for it.

Totally disagree--six cruises--every single cruise the drink service has been good to excellent.

Cutbacks? Not that we've seen--still the same # of servers roaming the casino, the lobby, the promenade, etc.

We usually tip the waiter, and after the first two nights in the casino, the waiter finds DH or me, and checks to see if we want the usual drink, and continues to stop by throughout the night. I've also received an occasional complimentary drink. No problem for us.

Not sure about the casino, but I do know the service at the comedy show on Magic was non-existent. If I had a drink package I would have been very upset. But since I didn't we just enjoyed the show, dry.

I think there were three servers for the entire room and they never made it more than to the middle of the show room.

I've heard this tip on a few other threads and will definitely be doing this next month before hitting the MDR. The bar service is SOOOOO slow in the MDR so hopefully this will help.

Just wondering if the folks that complain about the terrible service in the casino complained to the casino manager before complaining on CC :confused:

Trust me, I made my complaint to a pit boss one night, a floor manager another night, and one more manager the next night.

They all were very understanding, with two of them bringing a server from another station to help me out.

This is what I saw a lot of on the Glory. People who were just sickened by having to do anything for them selves during vacation. I guess I just have a different mentality. I do pick up my room in the evening. I do clear my table in the lido deck and bring my dishes to the dish stand and if I have to get up from my slot machine to get a drink then that's what I have to do.
