Not much cell signal while in the middle of the ocean. In port you can if your phone is set up for international coverage.

All Royal Caribbean ships have cell phone coverage through Cellular at Sea.

 

The the OP, you can use your iphone but you need to check with your individual cell phone provider to see what they charge. Many of the big providers have cruise ship plans.

If you want internet on the ship, you have to buy what they offer...there is nothing else.

The ship does have a cell tower, and you can get voice, texts, and data at sea. You are charged directly by your carrier, and you would need to check with your carrier for costs. For AT&T, voice calls are $2.49 per minute and SMS texts are $0.50 to send. Data is slow and very expensive.
