Taking golf clubs?

I've got a friend taking her first cruise and her husband is an avid golfer. They plan to do golf excursions in 2 ports so naturally he wants to bring his own clubs.

Is this allowed? Obviously he will have to give them to the porter so they can be scanned, but what about coming back from port? Do they fit in that little scanner? Has anyone done this that can advise?

From a search of baggage restrictions I found the following on carnival.com:

The following items may be brought on board but can only be used off the ship, for port use only. All items must be stored in the guest’s stateroom.

Drone Cameras

Snorkel gear

Skateboards

Golf clubs

Fishing rods

Tennis rackets

Kites

Roller blades or skates

Collapsible wagon

Metal detectors

Boogie Boards (maximum 42 inches in length)

Beach chair

Umbrella

So no practicing off any deck of the ship!

My son and I have taken our clubs.

We had a great time.

For boarding the ship, we had our clubs in hard case travel bags. We stored the clubs in our cabin.

We left the hard side travel cases in our cabins and just took the clubs and bags with us off the ship. When coming back, I really don't remember if we had to put them through the scanner.
