oreomaximus Posted June 6, 2016 Author #26 Share Posted June 6, 2016 Omg! That pic of the child standing on the table on the balcony just gave me heart failure!! I know I may be more over protective than the average mom--lol--but that just gave me a panic attack!! I am now a grandma of 14, and am still just as over protective! (Example: at sons last week, and daughter in law had 3 little ones by the pond. I was up the hill having heart failure, and she told me when they came back up to house that the kids joked that grandma was probably all in a panic because they were near the pond!! Lol!) But I definetly think that mom with the child on the table was extremely neglectful! Ok. Enough said. I will calm my heart down now. [emoji51] Sent from my iPad using Forums Agreed! I didn't think I would be the only one who thought that was a little much but I have spoken my peace and moved on! You know how some folks get defensive!

oreomaximus Posted June 6, 2016 Author #28 Share Posted June 6, 2016 So just to give you a little background on our cruising history, I believe that of all the ports offered in the Caribbean we've been to all of them at least once with the exception of the privately owned islands. Nassau we've been to about 3 times and is our least favorite port. However, since we were traveling with other folks and its not all about us we made the decision to hop off the ship at around 10am to go see the sights. Initially, the plan was to take our Aunt Shell, who LOVES to gamble, over to Atlantis but considering she is elderly....uh, I mean, just a teenager...and she rides a scooter we felt like we might be cutting the time to return to the ship close since she can't run or move very fast. After we made it off the ramp and we managed NOT to run her scooter into the ocean, we proceeded around the LONG A** dock where there were several other ships in port (not a surprise). One of Oasis' cousins were in town. It was really, really, really hot and after walking for a while (and being literally harassed at every blink of the eye by tour operators and cab drivers) I told Dallas I wanted something to drink. In typical Dallas fashion what does he do? he finds a place to order food and completely forgets about getting me something to quench my thirst. Where's my drink? Your drink...ooopsss... LuCruise Posted June 6, 2016 #29 Share Posted June 6, 2016 Amazing review so far. We did the same itinerary on the Allure so interested in the ship and your ports. Your little girl is sooo sweet. PS - I totally agree with you about the parent/child on the balcony. Pretty scary. Sent from my ONE E1005 using Tapatalk
oreomaximus Posted June 6, 2016 Author #30 Share Posted June 6, 2016 So last year, Aunt Shell graciously accompanied us on a cruise during Spring Break to help us out with Amy so Dallas and I could have some adult time. Now, to give you a little background on her, she's had multiple hip and knee surgeries so she has to ride around in her little masarati most of the time to keep her joints from swelling. But let me tell you, she does not let the fact that she's in scooter hinder her -- not one bit. So on one of our port days, we asked her to stay behind on the boat with Amy so we could go on an excursion. My thought was that she and Amy would be nestled up in their cabin reading books, eating cookies and drinking milk. So imagine our surprise when we return to the cabin to find a note on the door saying that they were "out to lunch." Wait. What? How is she, in a scooter, keeping control of my child? Me and Dallas take off at a dead sprint up to the Lido deck to see if we could find them. I'm imagining the worst. Amy is somewhere lost in the bowels of the ship shaking with fear or at the top of the ship's balustrades balancing precariously on one leg contemplating whether or not to jump. It was a very agonizing five minutes. When we finally make it up to the Lido deck what do we see other than Aunt Shell in the middle of the Wobble dance, on her scooter doing donuts with my child on her lap squealing with joy. Apparently, if she let's Amy "drive" she will sit there on her lap, (strapped in of course) with no issues. Needless to say whenever Amy sees Aunt Shell you now what time it is. oreomaximus Posted June 6, 2016 Author #31 Share Posted June 6, 2016 Some more pics from Nassau. Pictures of some fish beside the dock. Fritters up close. Aunt Shell. She's going to kill me when she sees this picture. Old girl in all her Glory. The obligatory Atlantis pictures. Woopty doo.
oreomaximus Posted June 7, 2016 Author #32 Share Posted June 7, 2016 Once we got back on the boat I took the opportunity to take a couple of random some shots around the promenade before we went to scoop up Amy.
oreomaximus Posted June 7, 2016 Author #33 Share Posted June 7, 2016 Dallas looking like the guy in the picture behind him spilled a drink on his head. Oh how could I forget? We took several rides up and down on the Rising Tide Bar. Here's a group shot of the two couples as the bar was making its way up towards deck 8 in central park. Okay insider tip: This guy right here was one of the best bartender's on the ship. I forgot his name but he could make any sort of drink we asked for -- even ones found on ....et um...other ships. Funny story coming up. See the lady in the white dress behind Dallas (I think her name was Markwa (sp?) from Cincinnati) -- anyway, we would see her and her sister and niece I think it was many times throughout the cruise -- they were really cool peeps but the first time we met them was in the rising tide bar. We were all just sitting there talking and saying how nice the bar was and how unique it was yadda yadda yadda and she turns to us and says, "yeah there's another one on the other side of the ship, have you been to that one?" We all look at each other and are like, huh? She's like, "yeah it goes up and down just like this but its outside." Me and Mrs.Cuba start digging through our purses looking at our trusty deck plans to see how in all of the countless reviews we could have possibly missed that there were 2 rising tide bars. Now keep in mind as she is insisting that there are indeed two different bars, we are steady "rising" up to deck 8. After a while as she's telling us about the other bar and how its outside, located under a big glass dome and in Central Park it finally clicks to me and Mrs. Cuba and we smile at each other. Marka is going on and on about this other bar and we finally tell her, "look outside". She stops talking, looks around and we all bust out laughing. Needless to say those drinks the bartender were making had us all a little "confused", lol. If you didn't get it, you and I need to have a private conversation. :p
oreomaximus Posted June 7, 2016 Author #34 Share Posted June 7, 2016 How coincidental is it that in my previous posts Dallas is wearing a "Thrilla in Manilla" t-shirt? Who would have know he would pass away just a few days later. Scary. RIP to the GREATEST.

oreomaximus Posted June 7, 2016 Author #37 Share Posted June 7, 2016 On my way to scoop up the munchkin from Adventure Ocean I stopped by the casino and dropped in a few bucks. Didn't do too bad. :D:cool:;) After collecting my winnings I headed up to Deck 14 to Adventure Ocean. Let me stop right here and give the AO its just do. Even if you do not have kiddos (or at least ones young enough to visit the AO) you should still make time to stop by Deck 14 Forward to check out the awesome job that Royal has done in providing such an expansive and well thought out space for the kiddos. They have I think three separate areas for the different age groups along with a free play area for toddlers, a "private" arcade room, a private movie screening room and then other separate rooms for arts and crafts. They even had a build a bear machine (that cost extra $$ of course :mad:). At any rate, Amy has some special needs and sometimes requires additional patience and understanding from caregivers. You wouldn't know this unless I mentioned it specifically to you but she can literally run non-stop for like days and has trouble focusing sometimes. The gals in the AO did an awesome job keeping Amy entertained and I felt bad leaving her in there and would frequently drop in after dinner to pick her up only to have her run away from me because she wanted to stay. Needless to say they got some cash tips from us at the end of the cruise. Sorry I didn't take any pics of the outside area, pics of the actual facilities aren't allowed. shooshoo2cruz Posted June 7, 2016 #45 Share Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) We just were on Oasis recently also. Thoroughly enjoying the scrapbook of your recent trip. Keep the memories coming. One thing I did miss while onboard the "O" was we never got on the rising tide bar. [emoji22] it was always full when we wanted to experience it. I'm using it as my reason to re-book the Oasis.
