kzam715 Posted June 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2016 Ok, here's the story. I booked an aft balcony (cabin 1400) which I'm reading is basically the size of a JS with an extra large balcony, on Freedom for our family this winter. Got a really good deal with the 1-2-FREE sale. But, now I found an aft junior suite, just a couple doors down on deck 10 for less than $300 more. Would I be crazy not to switch rooms? I've never had a JS before, so I'm not 100% sure what the extra perks are. Help!!
joromay Posted June 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2016 I had an aft junior suite on the Rhapsody for my Alaska cruise in 2014. The cabin was nice, but the balcony was huge!!!! The only perk was that we got expedited boarding, but other than that, it is not considered a "suite" and you don't get the perks that come with a regular suite bookings. If you need extra room, then change, but for me, I would probably keep what I have.

Definitely worth it for less than $300.
njm5378 Posted June 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2016 Double cruise points would be the biggest perk I see. It wouldn't be worth it for my family. I'd rather spend the $300 somewhere else if traveling with my kids.
champagne123 Posted June 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2016 Are you balcony people?? If so, JUMP ON IT...lol :)
laurac22 Posted June 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2016 I would go for the JS. Double points, bathtub, large closet...
cb at sea Posted June 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 8, 2016 While 1400 might have a larger footprint than another D cat....it won't have the JS bathroom, with a tub and walk-in closet! A JS is a VERY comfortable way to cruise! Unless you plan on entertaining on the balcony, a JS balcony is ample for 2!
reallyitsmema Posted June 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 8, 2016 I would go for the JS. Double points, bathtub, large closet... Bathtub is another good point, especially if they are bringing little kids that don't like to shower. The aft balcony (1400) will have a shower, not tub. kzam715 Posted June 8, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted June 8, 2016 Our kids, who will be 8 & 5 at the time, will be along, so the tub alone may be worth the extra $300! And I have a hard time turning down a bigger bathroom. ;) Thanks for all the input so far everyone!
