Restaurant Reservations

We are on the TA cruise for 16 days and was surprised to find that we were limited to 3 (1 per specialty rest) reservations. It seems like in the past the number was increased for cruises over 10 days.

Don't feel bad...we were just on Navigator for 12 and could only book one night in Prime 7.

But yeah, 16 days you should be able to get at least 1 or 2 more reservations. Have you tried calling Regent directly? Sometimes a phone call can do what the website can't (assuming you get the right person on the phone).

Maybe some time ago, but last fall on the 21-day Istanbul to Dubai cruise we were limited to one each in advance. Once on board we had no difficulty in basically eating where we wanted, when we wanted. A well-known "trick" is that if you want to dine at, say, Prime 7 and they say they are full (be sure to offer to share, that'll increase your chances a lot), drop by on your way to Compass Rose and ask if they had any no-shows. Final strategy is to inadvertently sign up for a west coast cruise which turned out very rough. Unbothered by motion, we had any restaurant venue we wanted.

I tried calling Regent and had my TA call with not luck.

Huh. Maybe their phone reps have the same limitations with the reservation system as we do.

As Scott said, start checking once you're on board. We managed to get another reservation for 4 on our last cruise, too.

Scott, on our last cruise, we had some rough seas the first night. Got REAL bad overnight and through the next morning. The Captain announced that we were sailing into 24' seas and 50+ knot winds. A few nights later, he made an announcement that it was actually 30' seas and 70 knot winds.

The little Navigator handled them surprisingly well in my opinion.

You may be confusing Regent with their sister company Oceania. Oceania does have a different number of reservations based on the length of the cruise.

On Regent, it is easier to get additional reservations once you are onboard - depending upon the length of the cruise. On 7 night cruises, you are very lucky to get more than one reservation. On longer cruises, as long as you are flexible with times and sitting at a table with others, you can easily get more reservations.

P.S. Rachel - really looking forward to your comments when you board the Explorer. I'm expecting lots of posts from the September group of passengers on the ship!
