FreudianSlipper Posted June 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2016 I'm booked on the Jan 7th cruise on the Carnival Miracle out of Long Beach. My question for those who have sailed to Mexico in January, is the weather generally warm enough on sea days to sit on the deck in a swimsuit enjoying the sun? SadieN Posted June 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2016 It gets warmer the more south you go. That being said it was rather cool last February. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Where are you from? There always seemed to be a few in the pool. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Sixtytwo Posted June 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2016 We have never sailed from the west coast, but many times from southern ports to Mexico. Generally, yes, the weather is fine to sit on deck during sea days. If it is really cold in, say, New Orleans, then it takes about a day to get far enough south to get into warmer temps. I suspect you will be fine sailing to Mexico in January from Long Beach!
klfrodo Posted June 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 17, 2016 I took that cruise in July and it was cool during the day and cold at night until you get to San Diego or further south. So plan on it being cold in Jan.

riffatsea Posted June 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Weather off the west coast and the Pacific Ocean is very different than weather in the Gulf of Mexico! Once you are in Mexico the temps should be nice but when going from California south in the winter it can be breezy and it can rain. There are sunny areas on deck that can be warm but breezy sooo when you get onto the ship be prepared with a hoodie or light jacket and long pants. You can start wearing lighter clothing as the ship gets farther south.

Melcoug Posted June 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2016 You just never know what the winter weather in Southern California will be like. Nights will always be cold outside, but if the sun is shining, it's probably great up on deck. We've done early January and mid-March cruises off the coast and enjoyed plenty of pool time. Once you hit Cabo and further south, it should be fine. Plan for the cold, but keep your fingers crossed for sunshine!
