Abi Beach by Taxi?

Trying to decide on a beach to do on our own in St. Thomas off the NCL Escape.

 

I've been researching, leaning towards Abi beach for a few hours, but would like to confirm that it can be reached by taxi? There's a dirt road off the main road that leads down to the beach area. Will the taxis go down that dirt road?

 

Most of the ship's excursions appear to drop you off from a boat, but I'm assuming that's because they are combined sailing/beach tours.

 

Any info appreciated. Thanks!

ABI was basically started to provide a local beach bar experience, similar to what is available in the BVI, on St Thomas. The day boats love it because it is close by. It is also easier to reach by water than land, although they have improved the road. I have never heard of taxis going there, but you could certainly ask. Most likely, you'll be directed to one of the beaches on the taxi route.

I doubt the taxis will want to go there for many reasons one of which is the road. The other is they probably won't get a return fare so they would prefer to go to popular beaches where there are more people needing taxis.

I think you should look at some other beaches There are places that cruisers really can't easily get to and Abi is one
