Oasis/Allure

Recommended Posts

Actually, I don't think the deck areas are as crowded at Freedom class. The pool deck is huge. I most noticed the crowds during muster, in Windjammer, and when returning to the ship from a port.

Considering taking a cruise on the Oasis/Allure. The biggest ship my family has been on is the Freedom. Are we going to be overwhelmed, and are deck areas crazy packed with people?

No....we thought the same but actually it never felt that crowded...maybe a couple of times in the WJ and the lineup to get into shows...but otherwise no problem...Enjoy all the amenities this class ship has to offer.

If only people would realize there are other free places to eat other than WJ. When I was on Allure in May, I couldn't believe the lines waiting to get into WJ. I would walk by shouting "Wipe Out" or "Solarium" or "Johnny Rockets" (at breakfast for that one).

I've been on both Oasis and Allure within the past 1+ year.

The pool deck is usually not that overly crowded. Sure, the best chairs will be taken during mid-day, but I was always able to find a seat. As others have mentioned, the pool deck is huge to fit the amount of people.

If you want to experience a crazy crowded pool deck, try one of the newer NCL ships!

We just got off Oasis a week ago this past Saturday.

Never really felt the crowds ANYWHERE, except maybe Windjammer, depending on the time you went.

Always able to get chairs by the pool no matter what time we showed up.

Yes, we did find the ship to be a TAD too big/overwhelming.

She is a beautiful ship, but there is a LOT of walking to get anyplace, depending on where your cabin is, and where you are going......

This was our first cruise with Royal......

Actually looking at Freedom for next summer, but cannot find out where she will be. Not showing up in any of my searches.

Anyone know?

Freedom will be in the Mediterranean throughout summer 2017.

:mad: Bummer!!!! She seems like THE ship to be on......

Most of the same qualities of the Oasis/Allure, but on a smaller scale, with AWESOME reviews!

Went on Indy in April (same class as Freedom), and really enjoyed it.

I'll suggest Adventure from San Juan.

Not the same exact class as Freedom, but pretty similar and by the time you would go she will have received many updates including water slides and new restaurants.

Liberty is the only Freedom Class in the Americas next summer, but leaving from Texas isn't the most convenient for fly-in cruisers.

Believe me, those of us from Texas, Oklahoma, and Surrounding states LOVE Liberty out of Galvy :D

Agreed though, have had great luck with Freedom Class ships. Hoping Allure lives up to my hopes (I'm not that picky but am looking to be WOWed.)

Not at all you will wonder where the 6,500 people are.

We were on Harmony this past February and had the same concerns. Our previous cruise on a mega ship was the NCL Epic where we felt like sardines in a can. This was not the case on Harmony. As others have said it felt crowded at Embark and Debarkation, but other than those times it had the feel of a busy small downtown area. Plenty of people on board, but enough space to not feel crowded.

I can't comment much on the Windjammer as we only ate the first lunch there and were early enough to beat most of the crowd.

I'm so glad to hear that it didn't feel too crowded. We will be sailing in September on Oasis. This will be the biggest ship we've been on as well as the first time with Royal. I seem to enjoy the larger ships much more since there are more places to people watch and explore ;)

We just got off the Allure last month (our first time on an Oasis class ship) and honestly any ship after the Oasis class is a step down. We were on the explorer less than a week after the Allure and we felt that the Explorer was more crowded.

The Allure has so many different venues that you never feel like there are over 6000 passengers with you. The Central Park, the Solarium, Royal Promenade, Pool decks, sports zones, the huge casinos, the venues are endless.

Absolutely brilliant ship, this class is the benchmark (for us at least).

  • 3 weeks later...

I had the same concern after being on the Freedom class. But I noticed that the Oasis had more elevators and that most seem to be larger. I really think that helped to move people and keep things from getting too bottled up. Central Park and the Boardwalk are on different decks and that seems to help keep people spread out. We are not pool people, so I can not comment on the pool deck. My only question is how crowded is the ship if the weather is bad? Considering how much of the ship is outdoor. But our last cruise had perfect weather.

I was surprised how disperse 6000 passengers were. I have to say that up to this point my favorite class was the Radiance class. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. If walking is an issue.... I suggest a cabin near the stern elevators... very quiet.... but the main dining room, schooner bar and access to boardwalk, central park and the promenade are all an elevator ride away. Now the fitness and spa areas are up in the bow...

A few things missing from Oasis class.... is the Viking lounge... with its panoramic views... is now for the suites....

The only time we ever felt crowded was after a show let out or when there is some sort of a parade on the promenade deck. Otherwise, the ship felt more spacious than the other ones we've been on. I love the Oasis class, so much to do and see. Hope the Anthem (my next cruise) isn't too small for us.

We had a rainy day on the Allure and it did not seem crowded at all. The promenade had more people at times, but a lot of people seem to stay in their cabins. The WJ was crowded at peak times, but if you went later for lunch, it wasn't crowded at all. The CD added an extra Trivia game and that helped. It was a sea day, too, so there were already a lot of activities planned.

That is good to know. On other RCCL ships we used to go to the Viking lounge to read and look out at the view on rain filled days. Fortunately there were not many of them.

I like the way the cruise compass has different activities at the same time at different places all over the ship.

Helps to spread out the people.

And yes there is a mass exodus after the shows, but quickly moves.

Enjoy.

We do.

Allure sailing soon to be here, cannot wait.

Safe travels.
