Obstructed view balcony

We are looking at a cruise on the Equinox in an obstructed view balcony. Category 2d. Can you tell me how obstructed this view is?

My wife and I were on the Silhouette in an obstructed view balcony. Per captains club, 2D is 50 percent obstructed, 2C is 30 percent obstructed. We were in a 2C and it was great. The lifeboat only came up to the bottom level of the balcony, so while you could not look down to the water, we had an unobstructed view out. From what I saw of the 2D's, I think the 2C's are a better deal.

 

If you are a Captains Club member, X will give you a free upgrade from 2D to 2C.

These are great cabins for the money. You're basically getting the same size balcony as those paying much more for the CC's, Aqua and top tier Veranda cabins. Sitting on your deck chair looking out, you've got the same view. Go for it.

We were in 6209 on Equinox...2D.....hardly any obstruction and because we were still on the hump the balcony was much bigger.....would definitely book this cabin again.

When we sailed the Equinox in Nov 2014 there was a couple, that are Zenith level in the Capt Club who had been in a deck 6 cabin for 28 days!

 

The view is not that horrid.

I don't mind the obstruction at all ... some people do, though. I love being on deck 6 -- we've tried the 2D, 2C and 2B categories ... I like them all. The 2B has absolutely no obstruction and love the hump location but the ones on either side, the 2D's and 2C's are just as good IMO, with the 2C's having a little less obstruction than the 2D's.

We've been in 6222 a 2B, 6240 a 2C and 6306 an SS1 on Deck 6 of various S-class ships. The B & C were midship, which is a great location to pop down a deck to Cafe al Bacio! But the SS1 made up for the walk to the elevators!

 

Our upcoming cruise will be in 6202 a 2D also close to midship, which was a positive move for us from an initially booked OV on Deck 3,then to a forward facing OV on Deck 7 and finally 6202. It's a port-intensive cruise in a cooler climate but I am glad to have the veranda space even if only to pop outside each morning in my robe to get a sense of the weather for the day. And if we happen to have warm sunshine on a seaday- yay!

We sailed in Silhouette in #6241, a category 2C, partially obstructed cabin. Be aware that while the obstruction is not much of an issue during the day, the exterior flood lights of the ship turned the obstruction into a brightly glowing orange beacon at night. We usually enjoy cool nights on the balcony with a glass of wine before bed, but this balcony was not really usable after dark. See photos.
