Astro Flyer Posted July 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Thanks Tom for the great BVE photos & the Grand looks shipshape. We're considering having family join us for a BVE on the Star before our next cruise. :) Edited July 11, 2016 by Astro Flyer

Rare trbarton Posted July 11, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Today I took the BVE on the Grand Princess in San Francisco. Everything looked great. Enjoy my tour around the ship with photos. It was a great day to do a BVE. The only snag we trying to pick-up the Embarkation Photo. I have done many BVE's and they were always at the photo department but after making several trips to the photo department nothing. After being frustrated I went to the pursers desk and they had the photos. There were other BVE people like myself that couldn't figure out where to fine the photos. I saw some of them and directed them to the pursers desk. I'm doing 2 more BVE's on July 20th & July 30th. I plan to combine all of them towards a new booking thus FREE credit towards my booking. I was surprised as the ease of getting an elevator as usually there being used for Embarkation people. Please ask if you have any questions. Rare Cruise Raider Posted July 11, 2016 #13 Share Posted July 11, 2016 We are doing this in about a month ... we are sailing but my niece is taking us for our cruise so we are treating her to the BVE. Since you mentioned we could ask questions, where did you park ... or did you take a car. What time did they allow you to board? What time did you have to disembark? Were you allowed to bring a bottle of wine onboard without paying corkage? Were you dining with people that were actually cruising or did you end up just going it alone? When you boarded, was the tour they offered immediate or was there a place to meet up afterwards for all the BVE passengers? Just out of curiosity, can you combine more than one BVE credit towards a cruise?? PS -- for the post that asked, the purser's desk is the guest relations desk ... right outside of the casino just above the piazza.

Use this link to see the deck map that shows the location http://www.princess.com/deckPlans.do?shipCode=AP. If's on the Fiesta Deck, Deck 6th just before you enter the casino. I would ask the Future Cruise Consultant from the ship where you pick up the photos. Tom:)

Rare trbarton Posted July 11, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Since you mentioned we could ask questions, where did you park ... or did you take a car. Neither I used MUNI. What time did they allow you to board? We were let into the terminal around 10:15 am and boarded the the ship around 11:15 am. What time did you have to disembark? 3 pm. Were you allowed to bring a bottle of wine onboard without paying corkage? Yes, each person can bring 1 bottle each irregardless if there going on the cruise. Were you dining with people that were actually cruising or did you end up just going it alone? There were a mixture of people doing the BVE & people going on the cruise. They seated me at a table for 2. They opened up the dinning room 5 minutes early at 11:55 am. When you boarded, was the tour they offered immediate or was there a place to meet up afterwards for all the BVE passengers? A tour was offered but you could choose to go on your own. Just out of curiosity, can you combine more than one BVE credit towards a cruise?? Yes after several calls to Princess I was told that you can combine several BVE's as a credit. Just make sure that your new booking is after you have completed your last BVE. Edited July 11, 2016 by trbarton

knotgillty Posted July 11, 2016 #23 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Since you mentioned we could ask questions, where did you park ... For BVE people, The Pier 19.5 garage at 920 The Embarcadero is hourly and about a 5 minute walk (.2 miles from the ship). Use the SpotHero website to reserve a spot in advance: https://spothero.com/search/?latitude=37.8027765&longitude=-122.3991646&zoom=16&start_date=07-11-2016&start_time=0700AM&end_date=07-11-2016&end_time=1000AM&search=Pier%2B19%252C%2BThe%2BEmbarcadero%252C%2BSan%2BFrancisco%252C%2BCA%252C%2BUnited%2BStates&rlat=37.8027765&rlng=-122.3991646 Most cruise passengers park their cars at the 55 Francisco garage (.4 miles from ship). However, they only take reservations for long term stays (multi day), not a single day.
Rare Cruise Raider Posted July 11, 2016 #24 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Awesome ...thanks to both of you for answering all my questions!! We don't live too far from the City so are considering maybe doing this just to go out for the day ... and then booking something or plunking down a deposit for a FCC while onboard. Sounds like a lovely way to enjoy a day in San Francisco! thanks again!
Sadebud Posted July 11, 2016 #25 Share Posted July 11, 2016 We're sailing this beauty in January to Hawaii.
