Specialty dining Precruise booking is $70 PP for 3 nights. Does anyone know what the specials are on the ship? In the past, the first day on board, they walk around and offer specials. We have about $400 onboard credit that we obviously cant use to prepay now and were considering purchasing a couple nights of specialty dining. Just trying to figure out if the specials were close to current internet pricing. We are purchasing the drink & internet package prior to sailing due to that discount .

don't assume any specials at all. at least not at first. they may offer something later in the cruise if the specialties are not selling out. our last 2 LIB cruises no-one offered anything on embarkation day. nor did anyone come into the CL( which has always happened on prior ships) to offer any deals.

 

just wait until you board. it may not be cheaper but it won't be more expensive.

Recent pricing was Chops - $35, Giovanni's - $30, and Sabor - $25. Don't count on the first day specials being offered...I look for them on boarding day and have not found them recently on Liberty.

WE didn't get specialty dinning on last cruise but should have Chops was excellent had dinner there twice ( this was much better than Chops on some other ships) and also really liked Giovanni's, did not try Sabor, better selections for some wine by glass in specialty, we did go over the 12 dollar per glass several times and pay the couple of dollar differnce

During our cruise last month they started offering specials the last 3 days of the trip - it was 20% off. They were camped outside of Windjammer and the MDR waiters also mentioned it.

 

We only did Giovannis twice and it was amazing.

How does the Specialty Dining work? Is it like the MDR and you order from the menu, but can get several different things to try or just the one entrée, etc? Thanks!!

You can order multiple starters and desserts, but only one entree unless you pay extra.

Just off Liberty on 7/10. Only first night special we found was at Giovanni's and it was only 10% off. Asked at Chops and nothing offered that we ever found during the week. We did end up eating at Chops and it was WONDERFUL!!!

Interesting. We were offered 20% off at Giovanni's on the first day. We already had reservations at Sabor on our anniversary and stuck with that. A fantastic meal from start to finish!

That is interesting. We were sitting in the Windjammer for lunch when someone from Giovanni's came by with the offer of 10% off. We had always heard they usually offer 20% on the first day, but not just 10%. Who knows.

I am speculating that with the pre cruise specialty dining packages currently providing that your first dinner venue will be chosen for you as well its date being assigned on either night 1 or night 2 (unless you are able to change it onboard), they are able to fill nights 1 & 2 without having to offer discounts.

Most nights were not filled on our Liberty cruise at any of the specialty restaurants

For anyone thinking the speciality restaurants are producing quality food: they're not.

 

Giovannis: Powdered mash, terrible fries, tinned crab, terrible limited choice of desserts.

Is there a small private dining room adjacent to Chops (within the restaurant itself)? We would like to have a private celebration dinner for 12. If there is no private room, can they make room for a table of twelve somewhere?

I haven't seen a private dining room in any of the Chops that I have eaten at but they can easily make a table for 12.

What about the specialty dining on Liberty at lunch on sea days? I noticed a recent Cruise Compass with it denoted but no pricing. Would like to try them all (Chops, Gio, Sabor) but don't want to ditch our tablemates at dinner as we already have Chef's Table one night.

The best special I've seen is the "First Night Done Right"...must be used the first night, but only $15 per person. May not be available on all ships/sailings, but I just booked it for my Liberty cruise in May.
