Sleeping 4 people on Jewel

When looking at room layouts for interior and OV, it appears the cabins only have 1 drop down bunk. I know I've read that some ships have a cot they place between the 2 lower beds to make the "4th" bed. Is this the case with the Jewel or do they have 2 drop down bunks?

Well sure.

 

People put their family of four in there -- two adults and two brats -- then come back to cruise critic and complain how awful the cruise was... :confused:

 

"All you do is sleep and shower in there!" -- Uh huh, sure...

I've just booked on Jewel, but if I had to have that cabin configuration.....

Some cabins have 2 pullmans (which will be over the main beds)...some have one pullman and a sleep-sofa...

 

If you are 2 adults with 2 small kids...you'll make it work. If you're 4 adults (or adult-sized people), then it's way to tight, IMO....get 2 cabins!

I don't think the Jewel has any of the 2 pullman type rooms. I researched the Pearl (sister ship) and it only has 4 person rooms like those pictured above.

 

We decided on 2 inside rooms on the Pearl instead of squishing into one room!

We've had discussions and pass around pictures of smaller staterooms with 4 berth, oceanviews are "roomier" than insides - those for the Dawn, Jewel, Gem, Star & Pearl are more of less about the same size (within a few sq. ft. difference, insignificant)

 

It's cozy & wall-to-wall beds, for younger children & teens, it's still doable - plenty of air to breath & free :D - Links here

It is possible to set up a U shape single bedding with the 3 lower beds, plus the drop-down pullman bed (whether it's wall or ceiling mounted) ... can't find one of the photos/link at the moment, maybe someone else will come around & assist the OP.

 

Question for OP is when you sailing, it's possible sometimes to see if you can upsell to a higher category, maybe even an oceanview that sleep 4 instead ... availability is usually limited at busy travel time, but not always - as the ones with the thicker wallet might move higher into the balconies & suite/Haven life, freezing up the "better" staterooms for you - at less than the "current" full prices being asked.

 

To visualize, search on YouTube as there are video reviews floating out there to illustrate, show & tell - NCL Insides are - on average - definitely smaller than those on Carnival ships.

 

Keep your eyes open for sideway cabins as many liked them & they feel, feel roomier. Prices for Obstructed Oceanview are sometimes not much more than Insides - depending on inventory of unsold rooms, keep checking - families & friends do squeeze 4 to a stateroom, sometimes to take advantage of the "Free At Sea" deals and for budget reasons, etc. - you do NOT have to book 2 staterooms ... perhaps one of them wanted to offer their generous subsidy and sponsorship (just kidding)

This was our setup on our last cruise on the Jewel. 2 adults and 2 teen boys. Each one of us said it was not a problem and would do it again. Really, the only time we were in our room was to sleep.

We had an oceanview last December on the Jewel. Just two of us.

 

 

While it was a nice cabin, there would be no way I'd want another person or two in there.
