NEWLKAT Posted July 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2016 I think I read somewhere that laundry is not allowed in Alaskan waters. For anyone who has travelled there recently, can you advise if/when is laundry allowed on the ship on Alaska cruise?
hapster85 Posted July 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2016 (edited) If I recall correctly, the self-serve laundry closed the 2nd night, and didn't reopen until the last night. This was on a round-trip out of Seattle in 2012. Edited July 17, 2016 by hapster85
Alaska05 Posted July 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2016 I was on both the Star and Coral last month in Alaska. Did laundry on both. Very popular place since lots of folks are coming off land tours and have lots of dirty clothes. I saw more men than women doing laundry. I told my DH that he should take a lesson from them. Pam in CA Posted July 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2016 I did some recent research on this and what I found is that while most of the self-service laundries are closed, 2-3 are open while cruising Alaska. I suspect this is due to the requirement that the ship store waste water until in international waters. So, the answer is that laundry is available but limited. Otherwise laundries near closed. Also in Glacier bay they weren't allowed to use paper cups in the IC only china or travel mugs.
Potstech Posted July 18, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2016 On the Star Princes in May we had no problem doing laundry when we wanted too. This was the morning of transiting Glacier Bay.

Mflem1278 Posted July 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 18, 2016 I was on the Star in June, in Alaska. I did laundry twice, no problem.
