Looking for Hotel at Vancouver Harbour

We are going on an Alaska cruise from Vancouver. We need to sleep at an hotel close by where we have to embark on the Ship. We are going with Celebrity Infinity. Please give us some advice

The Pan Pacific Hotel is right on the pier. The Fairmont Waterfront is across the street. there are many hotels close by. Visit the Ports of Call board here for Alaska, and also the Canada Alaska/Pacific Coastal under Ports of Call. Also West coast Departures under North American Homeports. There is a very long thread there about Vancouver. EM

Our hands down choice is the Pan Pacific. If you take the cruise package it includes a free breakfast and the bellman will take your bags for delivery to the ship. The next time you will see them will be in your cabin. You can take a dedicated elevator from the hotel to the cruise terminal. The hotel is lovely and the staff are very friendly.

 

There is an underground connection to the food court across the street under the Fairmont. It is close to restaurants and shopping. If you get a harbour view room there is a million dollar view.

A bit further away but easily walkable (or taxi at only a very few dollars) is the Marriott. Excellent option for affordable A+ accommodations.

Anything close to the pier can run you $300 - $600 CDN per night. It is always nice to have a hotel close by, but do check the West Coast board as mentioned and also the Canada board as this is discussed frequently on both forums. Just type in Vancouver hotel in the search box. If you can find something away from the pier it will cost less, and taking a cab is easy.

We stayed at Delta Hotels Vancouver Suites, located about 2 blocks from the harbor. It was very nice and not as expensive as Pan Pacific. (Got a great AAA discount!) We did end up taking a taxi (around $10.00 due to traffic delays) to the port as it was raining at departure time. However, you can walk it if you could handle your luggage, as the port is mostly down hill from the hotel.

We've used the Fairmont Waterfront and Fairmont downtown a few times and always enjoyed our stay very much. The Fairmont Waterfront will also take care of your baggage like the Pan Pacific does. A cruise line rep will be on station at the Fairmont Waterfront the morning of your departure to pre check you in after breakfast. When terminal check in becomes available you can elect to be walked [in mass] across the street to check in and clear security or make the move on your own. Very easy either way. Neither waterfront hotels are inexpensive. The Fairmont is a little more upscale but it charges a bit more per night for that very slight difference. Many cruise lines partner with both hotels and sometimes those cruise lines can put together a hotel/cruise package that actually can save you some cash (you might even snag an included airport/hotel free transfer). The airport isn't exactly next door and a taxi ride during traffic hours will keep that meter turning for some time. Vancouver, besides being a beautiful city, has some of the best Chinese restaurants in North America. Hint, food and drink get proportionately less costly the further you walk away from the waterfront.
