capegirl Posted August 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Just back from fabulous cruise on Journey however a warning if you like to sleep-in don't book Cabin 7009 because early mornings when tendering you hear the very loud noise of the anchors being lowered! Not good.
dcsam Posted August 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Uhhh.... It is a ship, and most ships have anchors. And anchors do make a sound when being set. Hard not to hear the anchor fall from most cabins in bow areas.

MNgardens Posted August 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Would you be willing to post your comments about the cabin on the cabin review thread? It is becoming very comprehensive- I have referred to it several times when trying to pick a cabin. I am so grateful to those who started it. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1813056&page=20 Thanks
Mercruiser Posted August 12, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2016 Cape girl, Thanks for the report. I like being informed which cabins have particular issues with noise. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Pam Posted August 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 12, 2016 On the three older Regent ships, the most expensive suites are on the front of the ship. We heard the anchor every morning on Navigator, even in the Owner's Suite.
IsanTom Posted August 12, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 12, 2016 This is normal ships activities. Not supposed to sleep when arriving in port. Coffee or Bloody Mary time for ships arrival or departure! Have fun!

florisdekort Posted August 13, 2016 #9 Share Posted August 13, 2016 (edited) Sorry but Owners Suites are in the back of the ship and fantastic! Four of them are in the front but called Ocean Suites I think. Anyway, any forward cabin on any deck will hear the anchor go up and down. You might as well add this comment for 50+ cabins on the cabin review topic then. It's a ship. It moves too [emoji57] Edited August 13, 2016 by florisdekort
marinaro44 Posted August 13, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 13, 2016 Sorry but Owners Suites are in the back of the ship and fantastic! Sorry but Pam is correct and you are not. The Regent Seven Seas Navigator, to which Pam was referring in her posting, has its biggest, priciest suites far forward on the ship, close to where the anchors drop. They are called Grand Suites and Master Suites, though,, not Owners Suites. There are no large suites at the aft end of Navigator, as the ship's ridiculous inherent engine and propeller vibration would loosen the occupants' fillings. TrulyBlonde Posted August 13, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 13, 2016 Thought we were talking of the Azamara ships. I think you are possibly referring to Oceania (Owners Suites) which are on the back of the ship. I know you know about those and we will be in one this Oct. for S.America having only been in the Vista Suite on Oceania which are at the front of the ship. That was fabulous too. We are trying AZ again after a break due to an itinerary that is very nice. It is port intensive and will be in a Club Cont. suite. Your review when you take your AZ cruise will be valuable to me because I can tell from prior posts we like and expect the same things;-)

scapel Posted August 22, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 22, 2016 Sorry but Owners Suites are in the back of the ship and fantastic! I have had the Owner's Suite and much prefer the forward like 7005. No noise. If I had noise I always have wax ear plugs, but have never had to use them on any Azamara Ship
