Drinks package - gratuities

Recommended Posts

Hey,

We have drinks packages for our upcoming cruise on allure of the seas.

Am I right in saying the drinks package includes the gratuities and therefore we don't need to tip when we get a drink?

Thanks

You are correct.

Correct, when you have a beverage package, the gratuities are charged at the time you purchase the package. No additional gratuities are charged when you order a drink, however you may get a bill to sign with a spot to add extra gratuities.

Hi there, when you say 'tip' the bartender etc do you mean with cash euros or an amount on the slip of paper ?

For events at home I would always tip at the start of the night our table waiter or if at a bar, then the bar person. As you say, the service becomes better.

Thanks Stuart

Either would be fine, but we tip cash.

I'm not saying I never tip extra, but I gotta say that I get really good service even without big extra tips the first time I see a bartender.

Some people might be tipping and getting service they would have received anyway. :)

I agree. Also I'm reluctant to tip early at the start of the cruise.. There is nothing to stop them from pocketing the money on day 1 and doing the bare minimum the rest of the week.

We always take a stack of singles with us and tip our cocktail servers that provide good, regular service. It's remarkable how they "light up" and you become their regular customer. Some have told us they really appreciate getting an extra tip because it shows appreciation for going a little further! I had to think about it, but considering everyone gets the 15% tip automatically, a little extra makes them feel good

As do some others, we typically bring a stack of ones and share with no expectations, but the times we've forgotten and have requested change for ones at either the casino or guest services, you'd have thought we were asking the rep to give us money out of their pocket.

Wouldn't have thought a thing about it had it not happened a couple of times both on Celebrity and RC when we forgot our initial stack. Didn't matter whether guest services or the casino, when it was time to get more ones, my wife and I would draw straws and laugh about who would have to go next to get change as (in many cases) they seemed annoyed to give out more than two ones at a time and we didn't have anything smaller than a five (which we were told numerous times was the limit). :)

John

p.s. If there have been past instances of people nefariously collecting all of the ones on the ship for personal use after the cruise and subsequently causing problems for guest services and the casino cashiers, I apologize and rescind the smiley face above.
