Well,I don't want that. That does make me wonder...what do they do with their cash tips? Does the cruise line have a "bank?" Do they have access to a secure locker or something to store the money? Do they take the currency and wire it home at various ports?

I would tip them with your euros if it is convenient for you to do so:

(1) you are tipping over and above the DSC so anything even if it is minus bank charges is a bonus;

(2) staff are not from USD or EUR countries e.g. Philippines; Indonesia so any money wired home will need a currency exchange fee somewhere in the transactions;

(3) If sailing in the Carribean, there may be an opportunity to use them in the EUR using countries there e.g. Dutch Antilles and

(4) staff move from ship to ship so I am sure before long, they will be sailing in euroland before long.
