The issue is with the machines, they have all or nothing for any accrued points. You cannot negotiate what points you get, and the slot attendants cannot control comps. I have yet to EVER see the casino Hostess/Host chat up slot players.

I guess you have never cruised with me! I play slots most of the time and rarely play the tables. I have gotten to know two of the casino hosts well enough that we continue to stay in contact about family etc. I do get freebies while on the ship too. As for free cruises, that has only happened to me once and that's fine. I gamble an amount that I feel comfortable doing and have a lot of fun, so it works for me! Congrats again on the free cruise, and the suite upgrade.

At the tables you chat up the put bosses and Host/hostesses, and you control what they see you do. even if you don't play a lot, just buy in for a bit, and play every second or third hand, the table keeps track of the time you spend sitting there. Their system works out the percentage of hands you play per hour versus your bet they assume you make consistently.

The Host/Hostess and pit bosses have the ability to comp you anytime.

It doesn't take much money to make you look like a big spender, just the time associated at the tables. The machines track every cent you bet.

I actually talked to reservations, as I didn't like the open balconies on Dolphin, asked for something on Emerald (nothing available), they upgraded us to a suite. Maybe my luck on this cruise is just starting.

The weird thing is, Ocean Players Club has nothing to do with this promo, Prestige Players must be a new department.

Very nice tip. Thanks.

Yes, it's true that the pit bosses and other staff can and do comp beverages, specialty dining and send amenities to your room at their discretion. However, their comps are tracked; they can't just give away the store! For MOST of the table games, new tables were installed that actually COUNT how many hands are played. When you sit at a table and they ask for your card, they swipe it and designate the box(hand) you're playing. Start playing two boxes and they enter that in the keypad, as well as when you back down or stop playing. I don't know for sure who enters your average bet, but I do know the table counts hands played-- and knows and doesn't count when you sit out a hand. This information is used to accurately track true play.

As for the amounts of a wager, the pit bosses have a sharp eye: start out betting $20 per hand, then drop down to $15 or less consistently, and they know. And as a frequent player, they are even more focused on your play.

I'm stating this as a guest that does gamble on Princess Cruises, and I haven't paid (other than port charges and taxes) for my last five cruises (38 days.) I get comped (a certain number of times) in specialty restaurants, typically drink free in the casino, and have specific amenities provided that they know I like. They are FAIR in their policy with comps, but they do NOT give away the store. There is an almost precise relationship between actual play and value of comps. The staff with authorization to comp are fiscally accountable, as is the Casino Manager.

My comps are based on both table and slot play. When it comes to slots, for every $X gambled, one point is earned (Poker machines have less attractive ratio.) It is about how much money is gambled, NOT how much is won or lost.

I think M4dC0w, when mentioning slots, was pointing out that there's no flexibility, since there is the formula. True, points earned determines comps. But the casino also knows their good players. Good players are not ignored. I'm offered comp drinks while playing, and the Casino Manager (as well as casino host/ess and/or Asst Casino Manager) will come sit and chat. That's not just for me: I've seen them do so with other good players as well.

Another thing... the casino's on Carnival Corp. brands are run by a "separate company," OPC or perhaps even a new name that's mentioned. BUT they really ARE part of Carnival Corp.

Just found out a few more interesting facts on this latest offer in a direct mailing from the Prestige Players department. I was told this is who the OPC answers to.

There actually have 4 mini-suites that haven't been claimed yet. Offers were sent out to 30 members, the number of rooms available were only 20. They are awaiting the deadline and will offer the mini's to the next few people on their call up list.

It will be interesting having a car service pick you up instead of just regular bus/van transfers that would make you wait an hour to fill it before it leaves for the port.

The drinks are available SHIPWIDE, not just when playing, or when the casino is open. So basically the Ultimate Beverage Package is included. I know last time, the Hostess was authorizing some high end single malts well over the $10 limit.

The excursions were a choice of 3 that they picked that are listed in the excursions section, prices range from $89 - $189 for 2 people

Total cost in all $220 USD for taxes, $700 CAD in flights, plus tips and gratuities. Not including my casino budget.
