Free Cruise for Playing in the Casino?

Thanks for the reply! That's good to know! Both people have to get the points? Or can just one person get it and then bring their spouse along?

The offer will be a stateroom for 2. On our cruise I received one, as did DW. Mine turned out to be the better of the two, but we could have each booked a stateroom for 2.

How many hours a day did you play?

I would say that I averaged 30+ hours of play during a one-weeks cruise - give or take. That may be high for some, low for others. Probably 3 -5 hours a day.

I laugh when I see a free cruise on a casino offer. It's an oxymoron. I don't gamble, and I bet I have spent a whole lot less on my cruises overall, than those that get a "Free" cruise from the casino.

Now if somebody never gambles a penny and gets a free casino offer, then that's a deal.

others got it right when they said, it's really a pre-paid cruise.

That's certainly a very practical way of looking at it. However, I would suspect most of these folks aren't gambling with the primary goal of getting a future cruise for free. I play blackjack and craps solely as a source of entertainment. Sometimes that entertainment comes at a price (within my control), and sometimes (less often) it ends up making me money. It's really all about how you think about it.

Gambling is entertainment to some and they would gamble even if there were no free cruises. Getting a free one is just a bonus.

I ended up booking on the Ecstacy last night. Another cruise this year was not really in the financial or time-off budget. So we were lucky to find a five day cruise out of our hometown. It ended up being $300 total for two people in an ocean view cabin.

I have no idea how much he won and lost at the tables total. He did play a few hours every night. They comped him his drinks half way through the cruise which was funny because we had Cheers and he doesn't drink alcohol (yes Cheers was still worth it).

So Bahamas here we come!

My husband may play a game of blackjack here or there, I'm the gambler lol so I get all the casino offers and bounce backs. On our previous cruise before I got the bounce back offer I had actually only spent around $500-600 in the casino for that whole week, but I spent most of my time in there. I had someone tell me they are not so much calculating just the amount of money you're playing, but how much time you're playing and so that's how I had accumulated so many points, but I'm still not exactly certain on how all that works.

Just wondering, how do you find out how many points you had on previous cruises? My partner and I spend some time playing blackjack on every cruise and usually get a few free drinks from the pit boss, but I don't think we spend enough time (or have high enough bets) to ever get a bounce back offer. My partner does get emails for casino discounts and I don't, so I'm sure he generally has more points than me. I'm just curious if we can see how many points we've had on previous cruises to see how what our usual play amounts to in points.

Congrats on the cruise!

We've never received the free cruise, but my husband did get a discounted cruise offer from the casino that we used on our most recent trip. It didn't come on our cruise, it just showed up in his special offers later on. Does anyone know if those are just random or when they tend to send them out to you? I don't remember how long after our cruise he got it. We're hoping for another!

That's correct...TIME is a big factor. Sometimes I might sit at a slot machine and play a quarter at a time but I'll sit there for 6 hours and the casino host will come over and offer a comp for an alternative restaurant and there will be "goodies" in my cabin.

Casino hosts have come over and said..."Can't believe you are still here." LOL

I've come back from cruises where I've won a lot of $$$ overall (paid my sign and sail off and came home with 2 grand) and I've come back not so lucky. It's a gamble and I treat it as FUN and if I get a bounceback, it's even better.

This is great to know. My DH did stay up into the wee hours of the morning playing and was one of the few players totally sober during those nights and early mornings.

I've had a "Casino Offer" in my Special Offers twice now (that I noticed). I play Blackjack occasionally and also bought a seat on a Blackjack Tournament on ebay once for $10. Seems like that triggered my "casino offers". My son just received an email with a "casino offer" and he hasn't cruised since 2014. He also only played blackjack occasionally (though he lost about $150 the last time).

Booked our latest cruise with the Casino Offer and saved at least $200 off the price of a balcony listed on Online TA sites.

You can send an email to casino@carnival.com. Include your names, VIFP#'s, Dates of birth and the last cruise..date and ship..that you took. Tell them you would like to know your point count from your last cruise. They usually respond within one business day. Good luck!

I would think that you could get a general idea by using the link someone posted to request a win/loss statement. The dollar amount you lose times the point conversion they show in the link. Wouldn't show the TIME you played, but the actual dollar amount tracked.

My husband & I both 'bet'...however, we do not like Vegas for the crowds and walk, walk, walk factor. If one of us has reached our budget limit, it is difficult to just go back to the room if you are miles away from your room. At night, a female walking alone...doesn't feel safe in Vegas. So, we prefer our cruise casino option. As someone else said, it is a bonus (actually a big bonus) to have your next 'room' paid for on your next betting vacation. :D Throw in 'free food' (NEVER in Vegas), ocean air, beaches, forced time AWAY from the tables (Vegas, can't ever seem to disconnect & rest), and a limited crowd....and it is SO much better for people that like to play cards instead of laying out in the sun.

It's a matter of perception. We see a BIG value from our bounce back offers, not like we are paying for it...but, rather we are getting some of our money back in a way we would never get in Vegas! We won't go back to Vegas, as long as Carnival keeps supplying our room & board. If they ever change their program, we will go back to our other cruise line faves of RCI & Celebrity. They managed to hook us through the first free one from our local casino. Very hard to actually PAY for a cruise on other lines now...because regardless, we still spend the same amount in the casinos.
