Comped cruises from the casino

What level of table game play does it take to get comped cruises on NCL? I'm taking my first NCL cruise next year, and I've always been a card player. Typically blackjack around $50-150 per hand for 2-3 hours per day. Is this a level that will get me comped?

I would think that would get you some kind of comp. Tables are rated differently and usually you end up with less points than you would on slots.

The casino is going to look at your theo vs. your actual loss and use whichever is higher to determine your comp. Right now they are comping inside cabins for theo/actual loss around $3K on a 7-day cruise. Make sure a pit boss is rating you and don't rely on the table sensors because they aren't always accurate.

As SuiteCruiser pointed out, it's different for slots. Again theo/actual loss is considered, but casino tier points also help the casino to track cash in. About 3500 points per cruise would generate an inside comp on slots - that equates to running $17.5K through the machines over 7 days. (actual win/loss may vary, but if you are a big slot winner that (negatively) impacts your comp. (e.g., I've earned 10K points in 7-days on multiple cruises - but my losses ranged from $3K to $10K. For higher losses I was offered better comps even though my point total was equal.)

If you were to play at that level, you would probably get a decent comp on your next cruise. On a recent cruise, over 10% of the passengers were comp'ed casino guests (CAS or land casino certificates).

I play a lot of table games, not the low limit, give card for rating, etc. however, I've never received a comp via phone or anything. Are people just calling CAS and asking or is my level of play not as high as I thought?

You can call CAS (877-752-9625) to see if you qualify for any comps based on your past play - but for future cruises you definitely want to be in regular touch with the casino host(s) while you are on the cruise to ensure that your table play is being rated accurately. You can check in with them once you are done playing each day and inquire how you were rated to ensure that you are getting credit for the correct level of play. I mostly play slots, but there have been several strictly-table players on the forum who have shared serious discrepancies between what they actually played and how NCL rated them. (Hopefully, they will join in this discussion and provide further guidance! :))

Tier points earned are not actually the basis for comp cruises, btw. Tier points are the basis for your onboard comps (food & beverage credits, spa credits, etc.) But cruise comps/discounts are based on your theo/actual loss. So you want to be sure that the casino pit bosses are capturing your table play.

Inside comps start at 2700-2800 points

You should get deals on future cruises - not many comps while onboard.

I play 2 spots with $50-500 bet each (probably $80-100 each on average) and reached 5,000 points on each of my last two cruises.

At 1,500 points they will hand you a free drinks card, which is good for bottled water, coffees, energy drinks while playing. You can also get other house drinks with the card, but most guests have the beverage package for those anyway.

At the end of the cruise they will take $1 for every 100 points off your onboard bill.

For table game players that is it regarding onboard comps, unless you loose big ($7k or more), in that case they are willing to comp 3-5% of your losses.

For future cruises I never received any offers, but just call them with two or three dates in mind to ask what they are willing to offer.

They typically offer a free inside for holiday season or longer sailings and free ov or balc for off season sailings. You are responsible for taxes and an admin fee of $200-350 per person, but still come out ahead $500-1,000 per person compared to regular price.

As a casino guest, you and all other adults in your stateroom will receive a free casino drinks card for this cruise. If you reached Hot level (5,000+ points) on your previous cruise, you will also get $75 food and beverage credit to beu used anywhere on the ship.

They will also let you upgrade your comped cabin and sometimes those deals are even better: for my upcoming 14 day sailing they offered free inside and let me upgrade to H6 for an additional fee. Including taxes and all charges I am paying about 50% of the regular price!

Also, I cannot confirm that win/loss has impact on your offer. I lost 4k on the first cruise and won 8k on the second - offers where the same.

Good luck on your cruise!
