Just finished my 20th cruise and 5th on Carnival. Carnival's main showroom shows are by far the WORST at sea. It's kind of silly how bad they are. We don't bother with those anymore and stick to the adult comedy shows. This new lip syncing thing might be funny for the first ten minutes but I can see it getting a bit old.

I agree Carnival has gone from bad to worst entertainment wise. We used to look forward to the Vegas type shows with live music. No more it seems now its just Hoo Humm and we seek entertainment elsewhere. They used to have fly in entertainers that were wonderful. Have not seen on of them in a while. We have many cruises with Carnival but are considering other lines for next year. What a shame.

my favorite evening entertainment......assuming we're talking about the evening/night time options......is movies under the stars. while i do partake of the early comedy show right after dinner as soon as that's over i find a good lounger for the night's movies on the big screen under the stars. most peaceful way i know of to watch a movie.

Carnival should move the comedy shows to the main lounge and nix the playlist shows.

I think we'll see more passenger-directed entertainment, because it lets people do things they wouldn't normally do, and they're popular. How often do I sing karaoke outside of a cruise? Never, but I really enjoy the karaoke lounge on a cruise. I am typically there every night. Lots of other people do as well it seems, because the karaoke lounge is typically full.

Celebrity does it best. Comedy and entertainment. Shows are in main showroom. Plenty of room. We had anytime dining. Ate at 730 each night. Went to first half hour at 7 and if I liked it, caught the 2nd half hour at 9. Work perfectly. Will be on Dream after. 2.0 upgrade. I want to be entertained by professionals not by passengers. My opinion.

Carnival Vista has at least 2 shows that have live music. Sorry for injecting facts into the conversation.

LOL, and they were on such a roll....... We loved the entertainment on the Vista, the best we have had at sea.

I hope they offer these new shows on the Ecstasy next year. I am booked on one cruise next year and may book another before long.

I think they will roll them out but it will take some time. It was pleasingly different, up note and across the ship. Outstanding is the word I would use.

I think this new lip sync battle is just an updated, branded "Legends" style show - without having to hear people sing live (which can sometimes be a good thing).

Carnival seems to be increasing passenger involvement shows.

If you prefer the old style song and dance shows, there are plenty of cruise lines that provide those.

Carnival seems to be creating a unique spot for people who want to be a part of the entertainment, not just sit back passively and watch.

I think they are headed in an exciting new direction with their increase in Hasbro branded activities (Hasbro game show, Clue Mystery, Trivial pursuit, etc.) and now this very popular Lip Sync Battle show.

Not a fan of my fellow passenger as the evening's entertainment. Its cheap.

Playlist Productions in my experience have been ok, not great. The quality of the singers has been quite good, but the canned music takes it to amusement park level.

Since I voted with the fourth option, I would love to see a return to live music being used for the theater shows.

Carnival does a lot of things well and some things better than others, but compared to the other lines we sail, they are dead last for live entertainment.

With the decline in good live entertainment, it's no surprise that there's such a large interest in the Dive-in Movie Theater. It is sad though, that instead of having "can't miss" live entertainment in the main theater, we have to resort to watching a movie. As far as watching people lip-synching, I'll pass. To me, it's almost as bad of a choice as the "Legends" shows. Thank goodness Carnival did away with that. What's next for entertainment? Tee P-ing the ship? Making prank phone calls to Guest Services? Dropping water balloons in the Atrium from Deck 9? (Come to think of it, that would be kind of funny.)

I saw two great performers on Celebrity, both female singers. One was the British equivilent of Patti Lupone, she had starred in the London "Evita" production. I can't remember the other's bio, just that she also had a tremendous voice.

Celebrity hires professional entertainers while Carnival uses it's paid guest for lip synch, Marraige Game, and other non professional shows. Can passenger cook offs be far behind?

And I'll second the idea of doing the comedy shows in the theater instead of the aft lounge.

Out of my 15 cruises on CCL, NCL, DCL, and Princess, Carnival has always been at the bottom when it comes to entertainment....and yet half my cruises have been on Carnival. Entertainment is not a major factor for us in choosing a cruise. I will say that the I have found the entertainment on Carnival to be getting better over the years on the ships I have sailed, just not up to par with the other cruise lines. I have yet though, to sail a ship with the Playlist Productions or Hasboro games. Our Sunshine cruise next month will give us that experience for the first time. I am looking forward to seeing something different from Carnival. Until then I will keep my opinion on where they are going to myself as I don't really have an opinion yet :D.

"Entertainment" on a ship has never appealed to me since it can never begin to compare to actual "professional" entertainment. I live in a town where the arts are revered and we get to see the best of the best. I'd much rather see an audience participation event on a cruise since that actually makes it fun rather than any third rate production show that bores me to tears.

What about the rest of the ships. They did have that.

we were on the Valor 2 weeks ago and they had 2 great shows! there were 16 dancers and 2 great singers that put on good shows. the show band had 5 people and they were also good!:)

we talked to the lead male singer at the veterans reception and he said in 2018 that all ships will have the playlist productions.:( I have seen them on the conquest and wasn't to fond of them.

ours was an 8 day cruise and they only had 2 good shows and 1 other that was good. the rest of the nights was awful. almost boring! we listened to Music Boardwalk every night at the casino bar and they were good!:)

I think this is part of my problem too. My DD was a competitive dancer for 14 years, winning Grand National trophies multiple times. I've seen better performances many times by much younger girls than these professionals and always find myself critiquing the dancers out of habit. I love going to the Karaoke shows and watching people. Some are really good and some aren't but they are trying and it is usually fun to watch....although I hated going to Karaoke on Princess. I can only listen to "My Way" so many times:D:p. Their shows were much better though.
