Tendering in Bar Harbor

We will be on the Anthem New England sailing 10/6 and will be tendering in Bar Harbor. We are trying to plan a private morning carriage ride in Acadia and are wondering how long we should expect it to take to tender off the ship. Are tender tickets issued ahead of time, and if so, what is the process? If no tickets are given, how long should we expect it to take to make it to shore? Thanks in advance for your responses!

Those on Tours will be assigned meeting times & locations and escorted off as a group. If you set up a private Tour you can meet up as a group and if they are issuing Tender Tickets get them for an early departure. Myself, we have never gotten the tickets but I organize my group in a planned location, check everyone off and we go as a group. If you need tickets then let one person possibly get all tickets needed. I am sure others will stop by who can give you added information.

This review talks about the tendering process in Bar Harbor from Anthem.

We have tendered twice in Bar Harbor, but neither time was from Anthem. We had a private excursion and were able to get off the ship around 8:30 and were over an hour early for our 10 am private tour. Not sure how early your carriage ride is, but you can make an early one if you grab an early tender.

On the Aug. 25the 9 night Anthem cruise, there was an announcement that tender tickets would be available at 7am. However, when some of us went to pick up we were advised that they would be available a half-hour prior to your desired disembark time. At about 10am when we disembarked no tender tickets were needed as the process went very smooth--they were using ferries that carried 250-300 pax at a time. Process was just as smooth coming back. If you get a chance, try walking/visiting the area near the dock and all of the stores.

Also, if you need some info on the itinerary, there are a couple of reviews which a lot of info & details. One of them is mine titled "detailed & verbose review of Anthem Aug. 25th.) Both as message and also in the CC reviews.

Thank you all for your answers and links, they are very helpful. We would like to plan the carriage tour at 9:00, but I'm not sure if we would make it there in time. We'll have to plan on being on one of the first tenders out.

Where does the carriage ride start? If it starts downtown and goes into the park, you probably will be fine if you can get on one of the first tenders. If it starts in the park, I would not risk it.
