lynnek Posted September 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2016 We are travelling with my 76 year old mother. I notice several things in Australia have a senior discount offered. Is this only for Australians or is this discount available to others also?
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) It would help if we knew where you are going specifically, and what kinds of things are you asking about, restaurants? National Parks? Shopping? Theaters?. Edited September 26, 2016 by cruisestitch

Is this only for Australians or is this discount available to others also? WE do have Seniors Cards here that entitle Aussies to some Government discounts (ie bus/train fares for instance. A person is usually deemed to be a Senior at age 65, but sometimes can go as low as 60. A lot of businesses also give us Seniors discounts on services, ie movie tickets, entrance fees for attractions etc. While a lot of the discounts are given only to Aussies, it does not hurt to ask if mother is able to get a "seniors discount" She will get some. I always ask if a seniors discount is available when travelling overseas. Sometimes you will be asked for proof of age (passport, drivers licence). I always get asked for proof of age because although I am now nearly 70, I look like Brad Pitt's twin brother - how about that
