On the Majesty that left on Sept 26.

Positives:

- In a Grand Suite 1538. Nice room, clean, updated, does not look its age

- Ship looks great. Very clean and well maintained

- Staff is incredible. Everyone is incredible

- Food is quite good. Nothing too exciting, but tastes great

- Pretty much every customer is wonderful. People are friendly, outgoing and love to chat

- Smoking smell on the ship is only in the areas one expects (casino). Everywhere else is smoke free including balcony

- Internet is quite good for a ship. It runs about 3-4 Mbps for streaming once it starts. Of course the latency is awful, but manageable.

- I took my bother in law on the Galley tour which he enjoyed (he was a chef for 45 years). Food on that tour was very good.

- Not many kids (they are in school)

Negatives:

- Casino stenches of smoke. Even in the 'non smoking' sections it stinks.

- The only blackjack table in the non smoking section is low limit during the daytime with the requirement that you play the 'lucky ladies' side bet which is a ripoff.

- Slot Machines are tighter than anything. I was never up on the machines, and more than one I played I hit nothing for at least 80 pulls That is awful.

- 1X odd on craps. Ripoff

Bottom Line:

Except for the casino, this was great cruise. I would have spent at least twice as much in the casino had the stench been less, but oh well, that it their loss.

A couple more thoughts

- If you eat at the Mexican restaurant, do NOT get nachos. They do not have a salamander (broiler) up there so they use liquid cheese. But the rest of the food is quite good. it is $18 a person, but worth it if you like Mexican food. If you like spicy food, ask for cut up peppers to put on your food. It makes it even better. The Guac was wonderful and made right there!

- Johnny Rockets is great as usual. Good burgers and fries.

- Have not had to wait for my time dining even with 8 people in a group.

- I just booked my next cruise onboard. Of course when I take that cruise I will be diamond instead of Emerald, so I will need to call the agent and have another $100 taken off the balcony price (yeah!)

- The love and Marriage game show had four couples, and they were all very funny. Worth watching this cruise.

- Entertainment has been great. Nothing of high production values like Grease, but well done.

- Upon further investigation you can see where things are showing their age. They may have put a good façade on things, but this is a old ship.

- The kitchen on deck 3 (where I did the tour) Is very clean and well maintained.

If you have any questions, ask away!

When did you find out about the galley tour?

Which night was formal night?

Is there still a Captain's welcome aboard reception?

Did you see drink or coffee cards available?

Thank you, we're sailing in December and there is not a lot of information available.

Where is the Mexican restaurant? I haven't seen any information on Mexican. If you pay the $18pp, can you still use your drink card for alcoholic beverages?

Glad to hear it. I picked 9/12 just for that reason, but had to put it off a month. Looking forward to being on her again. I agree about the Casino, but I'm not much of a gambler.

Thanks for the review. We are heading out on Majesty in 6 weeks. Sorry to hear about the smokiness of the casino...I don't smoke and the smell gives me a headache, but I love to play craps (we don't have casinos in my state). Hopefully, I'll be on a cruise with mostly non-smokers so I can play lots!

Leaving in 3 days. Thanks so much for the review. How's the weather been (watching reports of Matthew). As for ship, is there smoking on the main deck where the pool is? Is there a serenity (or adults only) section with hot tubs, loungers? are there any comedy shows? Is there a show each night? Is there an advantage to booking your next cruise while on the ship? Thanks.

Smoking, yes on one side only. The projected path of this form FWIW puts it right in Nassua Wednesday, so this looks like it will effect you. Make sure Royal has your cell phone and you keep it nearby.

I asked about the Galley tour at the front desk.

Night two was formal, but on this cruise it is not formal at all.

They had a Captain's Reception in the Centrum. Nothing special.

I did not see drink cards, but do not drink so I was not looking.

The weather for us was wonderful. A little rain one night, and some lightening in the distance, but nothing bothersome.

As to smoking on the deck, people seemed to be respectful of the smoking section. It is allowed on the Starboard side, and that is where people seemed to smoke. The most obnoxious woman I saw was in the casino who was in a scooter, with an oxygen concentrator but still smoking. She looked like she was about 130 years old.

There is no adults only area on this ship.
