I love that song, on my first cruise(many years ago) the Captain played it over the loudspeaker every time we left a harbor, it was wonderful.

Following the muster drill I always enjoy the sailaway party and the song that always reminds me of my cruises is the Cupid shuffle, never a hit in England or even released but I still listen to it now and it brings back great sailaway memories

A real oldie 'Sea Cruise' by Frankie Ford.

 

'Sailing' by Mike Oldfield - chorus : "Cast the lines away, from the dock at the harbour bay. All those cares and worries and woes - you can save them for another day, because we're saaaiillling !"

 

Also Kokomo as mentioned earlier, great for Caribbean cruises.

 

Interesting how some of us prefer upbeat songs for sailaway and some prefer calming ones.

From my days of sailing on Windjammer Barefoot Cruises the sail away song would be Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. Very moving hearing that song while they hoisted the sails.
