We just got back yesterday from a beautiful 5 night cruise on Anthem of the Seas. Me, wife and 2 1/2 year old. This was our first time on a Quantum class.

Overall, I highly approve of the design, layout, activities, dining for the most part, etc.

10 minute video of trip

Day 1.

We live about 45 minutes away from Cape Liberty so we left for the port at 11:45 and were checked in and on the ship by 1pm with our room ready. I didn't like the check-in in process.

Not because it took long but rather looked disorganized. There were lets say 10-15 RC Reps holding an Ipad spotted at odd and random locations. Some outside, some inside.

What that created was these multiple little pods of disorganized lines on who was next to speak to the Rep and check-in. I prefer the check-in process you do in Florida ports. No confusion.

We found a rep with small group around her and checked in with her. Some pods had 15 or more huddled around waiting. Again, thought it looked very disorganized.

Also a first, no SeaPass card at check-in, you hold onto your SetSail Pass to board and make any purchases like drink packages and such with it.

Since we got onboard shortly after 1pm our room was ready so we headed there first. Wedged into our room number sign was a cardboard envelope containing our SeaPass cards.

We had a balcony room on the 11th floor, 11700.

We were very happy with the room and especially the bathroom. Nice improvement on the bathroom design. Felt more spacious, especially the actual shower.

I didn't take a picture of that. Another first, the refrigerator is not pre-loaded with drinks. There is a check-off menu on the dresser.

You then checkoff what soft drinks you would like delivered to your room to have in your fridge, if any and hang it outside your door.

After a nice lunch at the Windjammer we went back to the room and headed down to Two70 where our muster station was. Ya know the drill.

After the muster, we sat and hung out to let the rush of people go and die down. Good thing. They played 2, 10-15 minute shows on those moving screens. Very cool.

Stay tuned for more.

Did they require you to wear your life jackets during the muster drill?

No they do not require you to wear a life jacket for muster

Interesting; We were on the Oasis and Allure in 2011 and 2012 and they were still require life jackets to be on. One time it was so hot during the muster drill with the jackets on a woman almost past out. Maybe that is why they did not require you to wear them.

Night 3.

Got back on the boat around 5pm or so. We had Chic reserved for 7:30. For appetizers I had the salmon gravlax and the goat cheese & tomato tartar.

Very good. Wife just had the classic ceasar salad. For our mains We shared the Pappardelle pasta with wild mushroom truffle and parmigiano reggiano. Very good.

We both also the roasted lamb shank, good, but a bit over cooked, somewhat dry.

Afterwards wife and the little guy went back to the room and I had a few drinks at the casino bar. Took some shots later on of the Solarium. Never used it though to relax or swim.

After those shots called it a night. Day 4 was Horseshoe Bay and I was really looking forward to beach time.

Stay Tuned for Day 4...

Day 4. Horseshoe Bay

Wokeup to another beautiful day in Bermuda. Took the 10:15-10:30 excursion to Horseshoe Bay.

The only shot I got of the ship while waiting for the mini-bus.

We went to that little cove area at Horseshoe where the rocky walls and suck protect you from the rough waves and is perfect for relaxing and little kids without worrying about a riptide or anything.

Rented 2 chairs and umbrella for $40 I think and planted them on the small beach cove area.

It was too short of any excursion. We were heading back to the ship around 2:30. Bummer. If you want facilities at the beach, bathrooms, showers, restaurant & bar, Horseshoe Bay is for you.

If you want a quiet beach and don't mind bringing a bag with what you need, Long Bay Beach or any of the little coves you could walk to from Horseshoe if you just keep going left or right.

Next time we go I might do that. Have a nice cove all to ourselves. I found plenty on a 1 hour walk I did around Horseshoe Bay.

Night 4 Coming up, Stay Tuned.

At first I thought it didn't move either. You have to grab the actual metal frame it is on and pull outwards. It has a small ball that pushes into a small hole to hold it firm against the wall, it is not an easy tug to loosen it from that, then you just push it back it till in clicks if you will to have it straight.

Ugh! We were on Anthem a week ago and tried to get the TV to move. Wish I would have seen this before our cruise! [emoji4]

Night 4

We were back onboard around 3. Ordered some room service and then watched us sail away from our balcony. Here are 2 shots I took leaving Bermuda.

We went to watch "We Will Rock You" at 6:30 and it was great. I love Queen as well so it was even better. If you liked the show Rock of Ages you will love this show too.

You'll love the video I made that I will share at the end. It has a great tease of everything for the most part. After the show we went to the Grande at 9pm.

For apps I went with the Escargot and the Duck Terrine. Good. Escargot was not as good as previous cruises IMO. Duck Terrine was OK. My wife had the wild Mushroom Vol-Au-Vant. She liked it.

For our mains I had the Filet Mignon, which was surprisingly really good! Wife had the Seafood Linguini and she was happy with it as well. Little guy had chicken fingers.

Took some night shots of the outdoor pool areas & Johny Rocket's, which as great burgers by the way, before heading back to the room.

Had lunch at The Grande and I must say, wow, really exceeded my expectations. The handful of times I have went to the MDR on a cruise for lunch I was always less then impressed, for dinner, another story, but, lunch, never any luck. This was the best lunch I had onboard so far. I had the pork belly and caprese salad. Just a great lunch. Hungout at Adventure Ocean for awhile, walked the esplanade & The Via, shopped at the 2 for 20 T-shirt deal. Looked at Photo's at Focus, drink at Schooner Bar and then finally check out Wonderland where our dinner was scheduled for 7:30. We love this kind of stuff. Big fans of Chef Wiley Dufrane "WD50" in NYC. So this was the Grand Finale if you will to end our cruise.
