AFL Football on South Pacific Solstice Cruises

I know it shouldn't matter, but it has taken me 10 years to get DH to agree to cruise with me and he has only one question....Can someone please tell me if any AFL games are televised on South Pacific cruises on the Solstice?

magpies66: We just left the Solstice. We were onboard from September 19th through October 22nd (Honolulu to Sydney and then on to Singapore) As North Americans we never understand the Australian football rules, but do find it interesting to try to follow. And I believe that there were some AFL games on that B2B, but I don't think it was the full league coverage (ie, every game covered).

I honestly suggest you ask the bar staff on boarding. They will know a crew member on board who follows AFL (or any other sport imaginable) and the best way (if there is one!) to access.

As UK football (soccer) fans we have frequently holidayed with key matches while cruising. We used to ask guest relations if anything would be screened without success. Once we started asking the bar staff we got results! On one occasion when we were in a port we were even advised which bar to go to and what food to order!

If you have no success just distract your better half by telling him how lucky he is to be cruising! We did the South Pacific cruise in March this year and loved it. In terms of service it was our best cruise ever! Have a great time!

We have been on a lot of cruises (including near Australia/NZ) and have never seen an AFL game on any ship! I suspect that the Sea Princess might broadcast some AFL games...but that is only because that ship is based in Australia and serves a large number of Aussie passengers. But on Celebrity you will likely not see AFL. And as to the crew, they would have no interest in the AFL and mostly are fans of World-Cup style (Premiere League, etc) football (soccer to we Americans).

Thank you chemmo. Sounds like good advice and I will definitely be seeking out the bar staff. Believe me, I have been using the 'lucky to be cruising' line a fair bit. As I said it shouldn't matter, and it won't, but it would be a bonus [emoji2]

Hi magpie66

We we're on South Pacific cruise last April.

We were able to watch afl at the casino bar.

Cheers
