MikeNJ1109 Posted October 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2016 For those that are cruising this week, and happen to be stopping at Maho Beach on Friday ... head over to SXM / Sunset Bar and Grill, as the *LAST* KLM 747 will be arriving from Amsterdam that day. KLM will continue to serve SXM, but using slightly smaller aircraft. In addition, Corsair and Air France will continue to operate their heavies to SXM. This is the last chance to see KLM's Queen of the Skies make an appearance at St. Maartin. Michael

MikeNJ1109 Posted October 26, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted October 26, 2016 I indeed did mistype ... fat finger syndrome on my part ... and meant to type October 28th. Thanks to my fellow posters for getting the correction out there! Michael
hansolosmom Posted October 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2016 We were at Maho on Tuesday (24th) and were told the last day was Monday so we missed it by a day. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
cyntil8ing Posted October 26, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2016 Those of us stuck at home can watch on http://www.mahobeachcam.com/ Scheduled arrival is 10:55, but it occasionally early, sometimes late.

Rare BillOh Posted October 26, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2016 Truely an end of an era, at least for now. Above is one of my photos. The 747 is so easily identifiable, I will miss it. To me most of the current Boeing/Airbus planes look alike from a distance even up through the jumbos like the 777 and 787. I believe they may still fly the 4 engine A340 in. I believe the A350 is eventually replacing the 747 for KLM. I don't see any A380s coming to the island, I would make a special trip to the beach if that could/does happen. Ocean Boy Posted October 26, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 26, 2016 I am glad that I have had the opportunity to experience it. Thanks for the cam link. I never knew there was a cam for Maho.
poncho1973 Posted October 26, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 26, 2016 1. I love, love, love watching the Maho Cam... it's the only webcam since the JenniCam days of the mid-90s that I follow. 2. Shipshape_Sam... speaking of things I love. The cartoon (also from the 90s or early 00s if I remember correctly) is one of my all-time favs.
