ergator Posted December 2, 2005 #101 Share Posted December 2, 2005 Thank you-thank you very much. :). As an addendum the honeymoon gifts were one of the few things that survived our house burning a year later. Talk about durable.

I'm sorry your house burned, but at least something was salvageable.
Cruisin Oma Posted December 2, 2005 #103 Share Posted December 2, 2005 Forget the batteries - plug in is the only way to go! I don't care how many "D" batteries your wimp takes - its no match for a good AC 120V 60hz. No worry about "accidental" activation in our luggage. Caribbean Dad1 Posted December 2, 2005 #104 Share Posted December 2, 2005 Just make sure that when traveling abroad, that you have the appropriate power converters, or all you’ll be left with are exotic looking door stops.
ergator Posted December 3, 2005 #105 Share Posted December 3, 2005 You have to look at all tragedies in life with a little bit of humor. The worst part is they suffered smoke damage and are now a blotchy grey instead of happy pink. :)

ergator Posted December 3, 2005 #108 Share Posted December 3, 2005 I'm looking at your avatar and SO hoping that you are holding something else that you own that coincidentally is a happy pink color.:) ROLFLMAO Coffee all over computer screen. DH thinking I am ready for committment. As a matter of fact it is a happy pink color and fits my hands just right and hits just the perfect spot when sitting on the Lido Deck with it in my hands and filled to the brim with that infamous frozen conconction that helps me hang on waiting to sailaway. How perceptive of you to notice.
Kittybork Posted December 3, 2005 #109 Share Posted December 3, 2005 That was perceptive. I was trying to figure out if those were rollers in your hair.I never even looked at what was in your hand.
ergator Posted December 3, 2005 #110 Share Posted December 3, 2005 The avatar is just too small to appreciate it. Actually is was taken by the sun pool on the Lido Deck of the Conquest. The "rollers" in my hair are part of the collection of paper umbrellas I collected that afternoon. Just enough pretty pink drinks in the pretty pink glass to make me think I looked pretty durn happy. The truth is out. I am a geriatric party animal. :) Now my pretty pink glass is full of iced tea. Will have to add to my collection when I sail next. Ya'll all come on down and see how many umbrellas we can collect.
ergator Posted December 3, 2005 #111 Share Posted December 3, 2005 Also wearing my very tasteful Harley shirt bought in Nassau. Heck-everybody has to collect something and drink of the day glasses and Harley T shirts are just as good as anything else imho

ergator Posted December 4, 2005 #113 Share Posted December 4, 2005 I believe I ended up with 6 umbrellas and a marked decrease in my ability to ambulate independantly but a very pleasant memory of the entire experience. My ultimate goal was to have a drink in every bar on board the Conquest but I only made 10. Good luck in your quest.
flynrph Posted December 4, 2005 #114 Share Posted December 4, 2005 a marked decrease in my ability to ambulate independantly Well, in my business, this is running you up from independant living to assisted living! Next stop, Sheltered! How's the memory?:D
ergator Posted December 4, 2005 #115 Share Posted December 4, 2005 You might be right. The memory is starting to go. However, I am Staff Development Coordinator in a long term care facility so compared to some of my peers and the residents I look absolutely brilliant. Of course, they have never seen me with umbrellas in my hair. You will be pleased to know the real me can be very professional.
Kittybork Posted December 4, 2005 #116 Share Posted December 4, 2005 IF that's what you do for a living, you certainly deserve a break now and again.
ergator Posted December 5, 2005 #117 Share Posted December 5, 2005 That is what I have been doing for the last 6 months. Definitely a challenge. Before that I was doing hospice, but am just getting too durn old to be out at 3am driving in the mountains. First time in my nursing life I have had a M-F job and I am really enjoying it. I have, however if not earned a break feel strongly entitled to one. How bout yourself?

Wennfred Posted March 30, 2006 #119 Share Posted March 30, 2006 bring toys in your luggage? I found that these toys take up way too much space in our luggage, I mean whips, chains, cuffs etc. What people do these days is wait till you get onboard and head up to Lido, usually on the first day they have veggies that could help with your situation:D
snista Posted March 30, 2006 #120 Share Posted March 30, 2006 Last year we went on the Valor with two other couples. One was a couple we had met on the cruise the year before and became great friends. This particular couple were in the room next to ours. Well we got on board pretty early and decidede to just go check out our rooms and such. Well when their phone rang in their cabin, they assumed it was us...who else would it be? So he answers "CRACKHOUSE". There is silence on the other end. Finally he hears, "Mr. XXX" (leaving out real name), this is TSA and we need you and your wife to report to deck 1. He continued to think it was my hubby and was razzing the guy. Finally, he realized this was really a TSA agent. They came to our room and told us what happened and that they were going down there. We were rolling with laughter at the fact that he did all this and thought it was us. Anyhow....they get down there, are escorted off of the boat and into a different warehouse type building than where we had entered. All of their bags were sitting there. There were like 5 people waiting for them...a couple of agents and a few Carnival employees, one holding a clipboard. The agent asked...do you have something inappropriate in your luggage? My friend (the wife) said no. They said are you sure you don't want to tell us. She is totally dumbfounded. Finally they open their case and pull out handcuffs, with leopard fur. :o Apparently these are NOT allowed on the ship. I dont think of them as a weapon so it would have never crossed my mind either. They confiscated them and told them that they would NOT be returned. There was also body paints and a black light in there. Turns out that the husband had done the packing and had dumped a lot of their "stuff" in there as a surprise to the wife. She had no idea and was SOOOO embarrassed. When they came back we laughed for a good 20 minutes. Everytime she would run into the Carnival employee throughout the cruise, my friend would put her head down and scurry off. :D Sorry its such a long story...but it is SOOO worth sharing. They will never live that down with us. So just consider that your warning when you pack your bag. Certain things you can get away with...but leave the CUFFS at home. LOL It's amazing to me how many people I meet on this board or on cruises that live with 20 miles of me. Nice to meet you and hopefully we can chat more as we wait the long wait for vacations to come. :)
