It is not permitted to take alcohol on board. When we purchased drinks in the duty free shop at one of the ports of call on our last Emirates cruise it was taken from us at security and handed back to us at the end of the cruise. Seems like you might be having a pleasant vodka session at the hotel! Good Luck with your plans Suzanne

Cruise Junky Posted November 21, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 21, 2016 HelloIt is not permitted. Why? The poster is on P&O. They can take on booze. It would be nice if people that answer don't give blanket statements without more information from the OP

buchhalm Posted November 22, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 22, 2016 Whilst I don't know what you can or can not take on board, you are definitely allowed a very generous duty free allowance into the UAE. (more than into most "Western" countries). If you try to drink all your allowance, you'll probably miss the boat. :-)

suron Posted November 22, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 22, 2016 (edited) Hi,cruise junky wasnt having a pop at you, only the subsequent poster who was rather blunt to say the least, cheers,Brian. Thank you for your kind comment. You will enjoy the Emirates. Have done the cruise from Dubai three times already (twice with family who are based in Dubai)and am now getting ready to fly out on 7th Dec for a five week stay with the family and we will be doing the MSC Fantasia from Dubai and will be re-visiting some favourite ports of call and searching out new places to see. Can highly recommend the mosque in Abu Dhabi and The Emirates Palace Hotel. If you plan to visit the Burj Khalifa do make your reservations in advance cheaper than on the day and this will ensure you get a slot. The dancing fountains are near the Burj and a good time to see them is around 7pm. Other places to visit in Dubai are the malls for the Ski Dubai and the Aquarium. Atlantis on the Palm is great too. Taxis are very reasonable and the metro very good for getting around. There is a HOHO bus but with the traffic congestion this can take ages to get around. If you are calling at Khasab you might like to consider a Dhow Dolphin cruise - can recommend Dolphin Khasab Tours - a wonderful relaxing trip and the dolphins are certain to be seen. If your ship calls at Khor al Fakaan there is not a lot to do there but we took a trip to the Oceania Hotel - they provided a free shuttle from the port gates and you can use all the hotel and beach facilities and enjoy a much as you can eat buffet for around £18 each. I do not know your specific itinerary but thought this information might be helpful. If you want any other tips please ask. Have a great trip and good luck with your plans.
