San Juan S Caribbean in May???

After being away from the cruising market for a few years we thinking about

a May cruise from San Juan to 8 ports.

Any feed back on this cruise for the good and bad?

Thanks

8 port??? Did you mean 6? The ship is the Fascination, an older ship. This cruise (if it is indeed what you are referring to) is port intensive and also has another home port (Barbados - for European travelers). We have done this cruise twice and is one that gives you a good feel of as many islands that you can get on a 7 day cruise.

It is a 8 day on 6 ports, st Thomas, Barbados, St lucia, St Kits, St Maarten and St. Croix. Sailing on Carnival Fascination.

So is this ship being older a real issue.

Is it worth the extra $$ to fly to San Juan?

That sounds like a great itinerary! I like flying into San Juan to go to the southern Caribbean because you start out so much closer to the ports. I cruise for the places I want to see, not the ship so much. So the more time I can spend in ports and not on the ship is worth the extra cost to me.

I think you should check that itinerary; the 8 day/6 port is a special one on Christmas week this year. Every week the cruise from San Juan on the Fascination is 5 ports, the ones you listed minus St Croix.

We've done this cruise twice, but on the Valor. Love all the ports and you get to maximize your time in every post as they are so close together. You wont need to worry much about the ship if you spend all day in port. The biggest drawback for me would be that there isnt a mini fridge in the cabin. Other than that, it will be a great cruise.
