First Time Cruiser Medicine Question

DH and I will be cruising for our 20th Anniversary on the Triumph this month. I take quite a few medicines and vitamins, including one controlled medication. I know I should keep the controlled meds in the original bottle but what about the other meds? Do the vitamins have to be in the their original containers too? Some of these bottles are fairly large and I could fill a small bag with just the meds if I have to carry them in the original containers. TIA.

I put each day's meds in a separate snack-sized zip lock bag, including an extra 3-4 days. Then I print out a sheet listing the meds and supplements with dosages. I put it all in a larger zip lock bag. It takes up very little room and I have never had a problem traveling anywhere in the world.

We use Pill Packets, hubby takes about 10 different pills a day and it would take a suitcase (small one) to bring the many original bottles. I take photos of the actual prescription with the bottle & pill next to bottle. Put each of these pictures in one file on my iPhone. Never had anyone ask to see any of this.

One exception!!!!!! If going to a Foreign country there are some legal drugs in the US that are outlawed in other places. Japan comes to mind for an ADD drug. So be sure and check if you take a scheduled med if it's legal in the places you go.

The cruise line does not check your meds.

You don't need to do anything special at all for the ship.

No one cares about your vitamins or meds when flying either.

The controlled one should be in its original container and if you are planning to go ashore with it I'd make sure to know the laws of the ports you are visiting.

Otherwise if just keeping it on the ship you don't have to do anything special at all!

I'm also a ziploc baggy'er for non-prescription meds. Have done it many times over many years & it's never been a problem.

I recently had some Ebags credit/coupons & after Ebates I scored a Lewis N. Clark Day/Night Pill Organizer for almost free. Can't wait to try it out with my morning & night supplements on next month's cruise.
