Harmony eastern December 10 ... Not quite lice review, but some notes along the way

Day 2 is here and I have some basic notes so far.

Staff seems still a bit disorganized, but friendly and they try. However, our stateroom attendant is either brand new or just not too good. When rooms were announced ready, we waited to avoid rush. Still, when we got there, card wasn't outside room. She told us she would have to get it and then said, "If anything else is missing, wait until later!" And turned on her heel and left. She never introduced herself or asked if we needed anything. Finally, I called about the distilled water needed for CPAP and robes and asked if mirror on bathroom could be wiped clean (still had previous occupant's toothpaste marks all over it).

Last night she forgot to leave a Compass. This morning she didn't replace a bathroom glass. Little details. And then tells me how tired she is. It's bizarre. Still, I tipped her nicely after the robes arrived.

Enough about that. Today spent much of the day thus far in Solarium. Despite reported design change, still pretty stuffy when docked. We are moving now and it's very windy, so it's cooled down substantially.

Other stuff is typical. Lots of people cutting in line or grabby about food or what bit. I just try and laugh it off. Maybe that will settle down when they realize we are not running out if food.

Had breakfast and lunch in Solarium today. Their ice machines still have no ice, so it's scooping ice out of a container. No big deal to me, but I heard complaints.

Also, now that we are sailing, in winds, Solarium very loud with wind noise. I don't remember Oasis having this sound, but it's loud, but doesn't bother me really. We are sailing in higher winds than I did on Oasis last year.

Last night dinner in Labor and bed early. Tonight will go to MDR.

More to follow as I think of things and have time.

Lol, I was worried about the lice. :D Hopefully it will get better.

Edit: should I ask about the "dinner in Labor" and early bed. I'm guessing you mean Sabor? :)

The ships new builder leaves some to be desired. Our junior suite had wind whistling through it every night, others had same. As you get off, we will be boarding. You have the right attitude, have fun!

We heard wind whistling all night, too. We are in a D5 Balcony on 12. I kind of like feeling the ship move...but dislike that whistle.

That is because they use cheap plastic foil for the solarium-roof instead of glass on Oasis and Allure - it gets worse when you get into an area where the foil is already ripped and flapping...:D:rolleyes:

Tonight went to MDR and after a slow line for reserved tables (but none for no reservations), we got a good table, good service, and I was very happy with the meal. I had the Halibut and it was cooked perfectly plus the portion was perfect....if not a little much.

Saw the 1887 ice show which was good and I loosely followed the story line ...until about halfway through...but it was a good show nonetheless. Lots of costume changes and great effects along with some excellent skating.

The boat is going through pretty strong winds again, so it's really moving.

We are going on that ship in 2 weeks. What was the earliest time they let people board? I have a favor to ask. Will you check in the casino for video keno games? Supposedly they are on the video poker machines as an option. I was wondering if they have multicard games or cleopatra keno. Also what is the max bet? Much appreciated [emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1]

Love the auto-correct!! just had to get that out of the way :D

You have a great attitude when it comes to the lil things. When you get too worked up over the little things you can't relax and enjoy the rest of it.

If you can, I would liked pics or prices of Starbucks Menu & Cafe Promenade.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Ahhh... embarkation....that was a slow process. Now, keep in mind we are only Gold, but I would guess first guests started going aboard around 1130 (give or take). The odd thing was....as you got seated, they handed you a little card with a number on it. Presumably so they would say, "Group 30 ..." and then only that group would start lining up. Well, it didn't work out that way. People just rushed out if their seats despite their card #, and there was no enforcement... which they don't enforce much I guess so as not to make guests angry, so it was a bit hectic.

It was miserable weather, but warmish, so we just went to Solarium bar area and sat way back under the overhang where it was still dry. When the rooms were announced ready, we just hung there quietly to avoid the rush.

Later, when going back up to check for luggage, they were still unloading tons of bags. We actually saw all 4 of ours along the way, so we just took them ourselves. Later, on the way to dinner, another bag was pressed against our door. It was for our cabin # but for Deck 11, not 12. I tried calling guest services, but it rang off the hook. I simply put it across the hall and when we returned, it was gone. I just felt bad for the guests missing a bag for sometime. Later, it occurred to me that maybe I could have rang their room direct, but not sure that would have worked.

Also, another miscellaneous note.....the beds are indeed quite firm. A little firmer than I prefer, but I'm so tired at end of day, it doesn't matter much.

I'll try and get info people requested. Not sure how to post photos. Also, I am almost 100% sure I saw keno machines in casino. But not specifically Cleopatra. I'll try to swing through again. We don't go much and cigarette smell is strong.

Another misc note...fitness center smells like smoke because of its location, like all Oasis class ships. But, it seems as if there are really nice, updated machines. We run, so I haven't really worked out on the machines, but might check them out. Looked like some new types versus what I recall on Oasis.

It was very noisy on our cruise. The vinyl they used instead of glass was a poor decision trying to cut costs in my opinion. It looks like a homemade back yard greenhouse. The panels are already tearing and are no longer clear

I just thought of something else about embarkation. When I printed off our set sail passes, it printed like a booklet, with our names and stateroom info on front and the bar code on the next page, and so on. They kept wanting a "one page" set sail pass and even tried to print one for us (one each) but every single printer was down (no kidding!) But they eventually "stamped" it and let us go. It was kind of a delay and PITA, so make sure you have the one page pass. I didn't know there was more than one way to print it (or maybe it changed after I printed our passes out some time ago).

!

Can help here but not with Starbucks.

Cafe Promenade had no prices or listing of coffee options. They also have no cold coffee or frappes. One size caramel macchiato was $5.00 plus 18%.

The cafe also offers a complimentary danish and coffee area.

To be honest, the area is cramped and the person making the for pay coffee also serves the danish making for slow service and line cutting when folks don't know where to line up for what option.

Poor design on Harmony.
