I agree w/Biker@Sea...was there recently on the Breakaway.

We docked at the Royal Navy yard where one can purchase tix

for the ferry to Hamilton (20 minute ride) or St George (75 minute ride).

while I enjoyed Hamilton I truly loved St George with all its quaintness

Buy a Fodor's Bermuda, and then buy the 3-day bus and ferry pass right in the terminal when you disembark. you can see the entire island on your own. its clean, safe and easy to navigate. it is NOT like the caribbean, with people in your face selling stuff, barking at you for taxis, etc. the people are wonderful there and helpful. we even hitchhiked there once! the buses were on a several hour union break and we were waiting at a stop and someone pulled over to tell us it would be a few hours. she then offered us a ride to the dockyard.

Honestly, I would book RCI for Bermuda. :)

Why an RCI for Bermuda? (Looking at 2018 ourselves)

IMHO, a cruise to Bermuda should be 7 nights which gives you max time in Bermuda and all days in Bermuda should be weekdays. On weekends, public transportation schedules are reduced and there are some business closings.

The cruise ship that is in Bermuda the longest and docks in Hamilton, almost the center of Bermuda, and not at the West End of Bermuda (the Dockyard) is HAL's Veendam. The Veendam is docked in Bermuda for 3 nights (4 days) while all other cruise ships are docked for 2 nights (3 days).

NCL runs a 7 night to Bermuda, 3 days in port, with casinos open in port; RCL has a 5 night cruise w 1 day in port, no casino in port. I prefer the NCL since we can spend 3 days in port.

Bermuda is a pretty island, do some homework before you go and it'll cut down on confusion there. Ferries are a good choice to get to Hamilton or St George. We did a tour of St George thru NCL that was great. Also spent an afternoon at Horseshoe Bay, very pretty; watch out for a deceptively strong sun, the tops of my feet got blistered. Make some time to visit the Bermuda Museum in the Dockyard, great place to see history. There's a brew pub in the dockyard, the Frog & Onion, excellent amber ale and large portions of good food. Around the corner is an Arts Center, local artist’s works, very well done and reasonable prices.

First cruise to Bermuda so any info would be greatly appreciated.

my 1st cruise ever was to bermuda so lotta newbie info here with my review

basically do your research and you dont need to do any NCL excursions. it's sooo easy to find your way around and the 2 day bus pass worked out great for us.

i've since gone to bahamas and much prefer the 3 days in bermuda. dont think ill be back to bahamas. i did not try the helmet diving but hear its very cool so if you can do it, id try.

you will spend $$$ eating in bermuda but i found it was good food. so enjoy. there's a little indoor mall near the bus station. and there's a supermarket near there too. i always like looking for different food or candy and stuff. you can bring back sealed stuff on the ship. its amazing that a 5 dollar frozen pizza at home is 15 bucks there and loaf of bread is 8 bucks

when you buy locally, ask for change in the local currency to bring some home.

any tiny question you can think of, ill try to help.

oh if you do tom moores jungle, really study a map because i didnt get to see the entire thing and i wanted to explore more

We will be there in June on the Dawn. Leaving from Boston is so handy for us, no flights involved just a van service.

My favorite town is St. George with its quaint streets. Tobacco Bay Beach is lovely. It is so easy to get around with public transportation, that you do not need to book tours unless you want to.
