cruising_Bif Posted December 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2016 I know they are in different port stops, but if you had to choose one, which one would you pick?
watchdiva Posted December 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2016 Maya Chan.....the limited number of passes sold (100) makes for a much more relaxed experience. LFK is much more "commercial". Food at Maya Chan is terrific! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
roger001 Posted December 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2016 Don't know about the other place , but Maya Chan is a totally relaxing place with wonderful persons taking care of you for the day. Food, drink, splash in the water, relax. It is about a 25 minute bumpy ride getting there though.
Sissaaaaaa Posted December 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2016 We have already planned Maya Chan for 2018. Looking forward to it.
tulch Posted December 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2016 MAYA CHAN! We try to select cruises so that Costa Maya (and therefore Maya Chan) are among the ports of call!
shukapaw Posted December 22, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2016 We have already planned Maya Chan for 2018. Looking forward to it. Likewise, already reserved our favorite cabana! MAYA CHAN! We try to select cruises so that Costa Maya (and therefore Maya Chan) are among the ports of call! We prefer sailing Princess but just cancelled a 2018 Princess sailing to add NCL just because of the Costa Maya stop!! ~Brian
Taylor95 Posted December 22, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2016 LFK beaches in my opinion are by far better than Maya Chan. LFK also has a lot more activity options. Guess it just depends on what you are looking for, but I would chose LFK hands down. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Mel&Ken Posted December 22, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 22, 2016 We used to love them both - been 3 times. But last year LFK was SOOO packed that we literally found ONE lounge chair for the 2 of us - and not in the shade. We love the lagoon and the calmer water areas but it has become WAY too crowded. We're doing the same itinerary next month - Maya Chan is booked...we are passing on LFK this time.
jimandami Posted December 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted December 23, 2016 I think it depends on who you are traveling with. For adults, Maya Chan for sure. With kids, LFK.
Rare PhillyTravelBug Posted December 23, 2016 #10 Share Posted December 23, 2016 I can only speak for LFK, but did not find it packed at all.beautiful scenery and plenty of activities to do or just do nothing at all.
cruise pup Posted December 23, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) The food and service at Maya Chan are terrific but when I was there the water was too shallow for swimming and loaded with turtle grass. In order to snorkel you need to ride in a kayak and that's not for me. So my only activity (?) was an optional massage. With the UBP and free food onboard I don't think I'd go there again. I could be just as happy or happier enjoying the ship's amenities at no additional cost. Edited December 23, 2016 by cruise pup
Ellusionz Posted December 24, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 24, 2016 I loved LFK. Lots of animals to see and pet. Monkeys to hold, a jaguar you can swim with for an additional fee unless that changed. I went a few years ago, and they were supposed to be expanding to even have lodging on the island in the future. They even had horseback riding thru the water, tho it was only led around but still fun if you've never been on horseback while it was swimming. The food was fantastic too! Rare Travelicious Posted December 24, 2016 #13 Share Posted December 24, 2016 LFK is about twice the price, and only 2 drinks are included in that price. Maya Chan is all inclusive and more secluded, but the water was murky (at least the day I was there). Still, I would pick Maya Chan.
logan25 Posted December 24, 2016 #14 Share Posted December 24, 2016 I'm not as charmed by LFK anymore. It's gotten bigger with more activities but also more crowded. The food there was always so-so in my opinion. And the limit on alcohol is a downer for those who can't stop at the two drinks included with your admission. Not worth my money anymore.
