kevinyork Posted February 4, 2017 #476 Share Posted February 4, 2017 Can you tell me why European cruises many times have a drink package included and in the U.S. that almost NEVER happens? There is a feeling amongst many in the U.K. that cruise bar prices are expensive plus the UK has a lot of All Inclusive holidays which people like as the price is set so for cruise lines to advertise an all inclusive cruise is attractive. However I have to say they are ramping up prices. They keep increasing onboard drinks prices then increase the package prices to make them more attractive then increase drinks prices and so on. When will they realise they have squeezed enough out of their drinks promotions. Unfortunately it's like seeing a company advertising sales constantly, if there is no sale you are then reluctant to buy. We only book a Celebrity or Royal cruise if the drinks package is included and the cruise price is good. Otherwise we go elsewhere. We could never afford to book a Celebrity or Royal cruise and pay the bar bill otherwise. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
38anchor Posted February 4, 2017 #477 Share Posted February 4, 2017 We are sailing Voyager in oct - Hong Kong to Singapore and the deluxe package is only £31 + 18 % gratuity. And that is without any 'so called' discount. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
orla56 Posted February 4, 2017 #478 Share Posted February 4, 2017 We are sailing from Fort Lauderdale to Southampton and our package is £36 per day. We got the select package included so I will just pay the $11.80 per day upgrade 👍
karena1 Posted February 4, 2017 #479 Share Posted February 4, 2017 yup,as many Royal cruises as we have taken, we now shop between Royal, Princess and Celebrity. Whoever gives us the best bang for the buck gets our business. We did Regal Princess in Dec for less than Royal and it included the bev pkg. Doing Celebrity Summit in April for the same reason. So for our longer cruises, we most likely will do Celebrity or Princess as we get more for our $$ than royal is giving us. We get top perks on all 3 lines so that has zero influence in deciding between the 3 lines
QE2_Fan Posted February 5, 2017 #480 Share Posted February 5, 2017 We are on Ovation 20 Feb Sydney to Singapore and the Deluxe package has just been reduced to USD45 per day !! Seems to be so much variation from cruise to cruise, ship to ship. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

brad_p Posted February 18, 2017 #485 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Just got off Ovation cruise around AU. Deluxe package brought on board was USD65 per day and included drinks up to $14. Surprisingly most bars/restaurants had Kim Crawford Sav for either $13 or $14 so all within package. Another weird thing is that most bars didn't have cocktail menus. Some places had their own unique menus (eg: Schooner and Boleros etc) but none of the pool bars or casino bars. Made it hard to choose what cocktail you wanted when you were feeling indecisive. Luke Dawg Posted June 14, 2017 #489 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Just on Allure for the 10 day holiday cruise to be welcomed by the comforting embrace of a 2 dollar charge for a Gin Fizz from the Pub bar........!!!!!!!! Apparently, a Deluxe Package doesn't stack any more for a Gin and sugary condiments. Seriously.....apparently RCI have decided on new menu's and new prices as of today.......JUST outside of the deluxe payment band....oh and don't get me started on the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc that is now $17 a pop. Happy Christmas one and all..... Someone posted Allure bar menu pics it is shows domestic beers are $7.25. Can anyone confirm.

cruzinlisa Posted June 15, 2017 #492 Share Posted June 15, 2017 I find it very interesting that Bacardi 8 is $9.00 while a Cuba libre with Bacardi 8 is $14. That had better be some impressive lime juice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk LOL. No kidding. Just got off Ovation cruise around AU. Made it hard to choose what cocktail you wanted when you were feeling indecisive. I noticed this as well. It was kind of frustrating as a cocktail drinker because I am not all that creative. I ended up drinking the same few drinks over and over. Its good for them that I was not paying out of pocket, or I probably would not have ordered many things. Its enticing sounding drinks that get me to buy a drink, not thirst. As far as the signing receipts- it was hit or miss. Sometimes they did and sometimes they did not. Even at the same bar. About the only bar I consistently got a receipt to sign was the pool bar- which was the most annoying, because it would fly away. I also agree about the wine drinkers having less options. If I am drinking just to have a drink, it will be a cocktail, but I like wine with dinner. Most of the time there were only a few wines under the package amount. And they tended to be something I would not drink. I did find a Moscato at Giovannis and then later a Reisling or Moscato in the MDR on the second formal night. I don't recall seeing it in the MDR on the other nights, but I could have missed it. I only looked one other time I think.
