Rough start today. Limo got a flat tire, fog delayed arrival, fog delayed getting on the ship, the worst lines ever checking in, rudest people in the security line, fog has delayed us leaving port possibly till tomorrow. But, we are in a grand suite loving the ship now, concierge served us awesome drinks, some of our luggage is in our room and we are having dinner at chops now! Cruise coma coming soon! Glad to be on the sea even if we are not moving!!

And I bet you are one of the happy cruisers! Sounded like a mess at the port today from what my son who works on the ship had to say. Advised him to stay out of passenger areas after he finished boat drill! I know when we did a back2back in October, there were plenty of unhappy folks when they discovered the situation at the various bars till the ship was out of Texas waters. I wouldn't want to be a bartender on the Liberty tonight!

Plenty of unhappy people, I'm avoiding them!! Having an amazing time already! Changed port schedule. It was hard to hear the captain. I think we are still going to all the ports just in a different order. No problem! Where does your son work on the ship? I have some little gifts for the crew, just a little candy. Id love to give him some!!

Oooh yeah. Those not warned ahead of time get mighty torqued. And on days like this when things get delayed.. they run out of TX stamped booze and then all hell breaks loose.

Hopefully enough people brought their allotted 2 bottles and didn't mind using them up right away.....

I watched the webcam today - just pulled up tracker website and see you guys are still in port and came here to see if an update. Are you able to make it out tonight? Carnival still there as well. Being married to an airline employee, I hear about weather delays often enough for sure. Hope you are able to make the most of it!!

Sorry that the lines were horrible! Was it any better because you had a suite? Was there a suite lounge for you to wait in? If so, what did they have in it??? Have an amazing trip!

Recently did suite on LOS. Suite waiting area in terminal is just seats next to D+ D area etc. No extras when we sailed just seats with signposts based on tiers and Suites.

oh wow - I should have done screenshots of the Galveston cruise webcam. The fog really moved in now. I could see the ship previously from the webcam above Harbor House but now it is complete fog. Switch to the Strand webcam and you can see the lights barely but that's it. Thirty minutes ago or so the ship was visible (from both these webcams you were looking at Carnival Breeze - as RCCL Liberty is behind CCL)

Definitely not moving any time soon...

Well, you sound like you were the least affected by the delay! Enjoy the comforts of your ship and looking forward to your updates.

CKMOMMY.....Our son Kenny is one of the lead singers on the ship. You'll see him in Summer Breeze, The 70s Set on the Promenade, In the Air (he's the guy in the green top hat outfit who starts the show), and Saturday Night Fever (Father Frank Jr among other parts). This cast has been on the ship since June, have the month of January to go before they're replaced, and have never before had fog like this.

We are supposed to be on Liberty next week. Oh boy. Those poor people (crew and passengers) who boarded yesterday. Hope this fog lifts today so they can get moving. I look forward to seeing your son perform FDTHIRD. Does he need anything? I am a new cruiser and read about people bringing gifts for the cruise ship people/workers. What do people bring or what do they generally like/need.

How does this impact the cruise and the next ports if they stay in galveston the night? How will it impact the next sailing?

several scenarios. they could switch around the ports, they could skip a port altogether, they will probably at the very least push the envelope overnight and zoom along at higher knots until morning.

should be zero impact on the next sailing UNLESS there is another huge fog delay at the end of the cruise.

We have been affected by fog out of Galveston at least 8 times!! Once on the Voyager we sat in port until 10:00 am on Tues - missed 1 port. Have been told if the ship leaves by late Monday morning, no ports will be missed. While in port, everything goes on as usual except some liquors can't be sold and the shops and Casino can't open until the ship is in International waters. The good news is, no one gets sea sick!!

Thank you for the answer. As a person who is new to cruising I find it humorous to now read all the comments that are or will be posted on these messages boards about the delay and how it "ruined" someone's trip, dinner or what ever. I LOVE reading all the comments and find it fascinating that people tend to get upset about things that are really no big deal or out of their control. Fog delay ---ok....make the best of it. Elevator broken --use a different one or take the stairs. Life is short.

We are also fogged in on the liberty. Still pretty foggy now but is supposed to left later this morning. Hopefully that forecast is accurate

The Texas thing for liquor so stupid and annoying. Very limited selection of beer and wine and liquors. And they aren't allowed to service fruit, i.e. Lime in a corona beer.

We are traveling with 23 and we all have things on our stateroom that could can tell were not finished. Half--drank water bottles in our fridge, dirty towels that are hung up, trash not emptied. I just hope our sheets are clean. Our kids and nieces have yet to meet their room steward and not for lack of trying. They want to get their beds separated and can't find him.

We need extra keys for some rooms but they won't do it for us until we are sailing and here we sit in port in the fog.

I know the fog is not their fault, although there was a window we could have done it but it took so long or get everyone on.

Of course the employees as always are maintaining a positive outlook and working hard. Much better than some passengers who sneak in lines they don't belong, (talking to you red/grey Baseball shirt group who snuck in diamond line to get cards and bumped my niece with her 6mo out of the way. Happily for us we noticed you were given the number 12 in the next line so you had to cool your heels there until you figured out how to cheat from there)

Hopefully we can get going this morning. The Texas liquor and no fruit thing is a deal killer for me. Combined with the risk of fog I will never cruise out of Galveston again

With ya on the Liberty. This is our second cruise on RCL. We are so disappointed. I understand that the weather is not their fault, but that check-in process was RIDICULOUS yesterday. We had a similar family (you people with the red hoodies) that had 7 members of their family cut in line in front of us. It was bad enough that we had to put up with their ill-behaved children for an hour before they did that. It was also a nice touch to watch someone have to get emergency medical attention because he apparently became dehydrated because it was so hot. Our room had an unexpected surprise of left over balloons under the bed. I'm keeping a list. Not happy at all. Thank goodness for Zoloft!!

We are still here. Eating breakfast in Giovanni's now. The fog is so so thick right now. The captain is trying to get us out of here. He did say that they were going to try to push it and make it to Belize as our first port. People this morning seem ok, but not nearly as excited as normal. The crew seems depressed and not talking to others. I'm still trying to meet everyone I can to wish them a good day. The concierge has been very unhelpful so far, that is my only complaint.

I sure wish I see your son fdthird!! My 16 year old is huge into theatre and had a big part in hello dolly this fall. I'm sure he'd be over the moon to meet your son!

Praying for rain or a big wind gust to get this fog out of here!!

Who is the concierge? We had a great one on Brilliance, will do Liberty in a few months, most concierge do not impress me.

Thank you for the answer. As a person who is new to cruising I find it humorous to now read all the comments that are or will be posted on these messages boards about the delay and how it "ruined" someone's trip, dinner or what ever.

On my first cruise, we met up with a bunch of roll call people before sailaway and some girl sat there crying her eyes out because we were fogged in and we wouldn't have a sailaway party and if we don't move by x we'll miss a port and blah, blah, blah.

Same girl was all irritated because they no longer mailed out the documents so she couldn't do her "doc dance" when she opened the mailbox.

I avoided the roll call folks after that. The obsession with checking the boxes while on vacation reminded me too much of work. We didn't miss any ports, either.

Dinner was a bit of a mess because of the late boarding, but we had a nice little port party for ourselves. When we woke up we were at sea and we had a great time.

Of the three cruises I've been on in my life (all in Galveston, all in the winter) two of them have been delayed by fog. I will not be surprised if it happens to us on our Liberty sailing in about 3 weeks, either. It's what happens this time of year.

But I won't let anyone steal my joy if we are fogged in. I'm on a ship and I'm not at work. I don't care if I have a lounge or special seating. I don't care what color my key card is. I don't care if we're waiting on the pilot boats or if we're already at sea. I'm on a ship, and that's awesome.

Forecast doesn't look great, but you should get a chance to leave sometime today.
