Dear John

Please find attached update itinerary change from Cruise line.

with Bandar Seri Begawan port has been swap to Kota Kinabalu.

The Port Authorities in Bandar Seri Begawan have advised us that

we will be unable to call as they have unfortunately not been

able to complete port dredging work as planned. We have,

however, been able to swap it for a call at Kota Kinabalu. In

the northern part of the diverse island of Borneo, the city is

known for its bustling markets, modern boardwalk, beaches and

waterfront Kota Kinabalu City Mosque. Shore excursions in Borneo

will be available to book shortly via Voyage Personaliser. Also,

as a consequence of the political relationship between Taiwan

and China we are now unable to sail between the two countries

and have

had to replace the call at Keelung for a sea day. We

are very sorry to make these changes but hope that you will

understand that we have had to take these late decisions. We

look forward to welcoming you on board.

In addition they have cancelled Caines which was supposed to be a tender port and replaced it with a sail by!!!

They should have been aware of the political situation between China and Taiwan it has not been changes for 50 years. Who organised this schedule? Incompetence.

Cairns was scheduled to be tender port from 8am to 1pm. If would be impossible to transfer the passengers to and from the port in such a short time. They should have extended the stay. No reason was given.

Last year on the world cruise on the Pacific Princess we called at Brunei. The captain was nervous getting the 30000 ton Pacific Princess out through the channel No amount of dredging would fix the problem.

Cunard need to do their homework regarding the ports.

It is unreasonable to cancel three ports.

No compensation has been offered.

Cunard

How about an extra day in Hong Kong now that you have cancelled Keelung.

Another sea day in un acceptable

Highly unlikely given that there probably wouldn't be wharf availability. Your travel insurance may allow you to cancel if you feel strongly.

Situations change, the Itins are worked out three years in advance and over that period Brunei probably thought they would have the dredging done and they haven't - so what is Cunard meant to do? Get out the shovels and dig it themselves?

We visited Brunei this year on the QV world cruise - frankly you are not missing much.

Although it is always disappointing to miss ports the worlds political situation is changing very fast and I don't think that Cunard can be blamed for taking the safer option if somewhere looks a bit dicey.

Enjoy your day at sea.

Apologises if I have my wires crossed here but are we talking about the QM2 March 2017?

If so Cairns has not been cancelled (according to the itinerary on web-site) nor was it supposed to be a tender port from 8 - 1pm. They are still offering 7 hour trips on the 'cruise organiser'??

Hello John

Thank you for your reply/clarification.

Although we booked QM2 Sydney to Hong Kong in October we were fortunate enough to have a two week Med cruise on QV and a two week Caribbean cruise on Azura scheduled for November and December so what with Christmas and the New Year we are only now starting to focus on the QM2 trip.

You are indeed correct (unfortunately) and having looked into this in more detail from your initial comment, although in my Voyage Personaliser the calendar still says 'port' day the scheduled itinerary says 'sail by'

What was confusing me, in my original post, is that Cunard are still advertising inside cabins as available on their UK web-site, which is where I was looking. On this, the itinerary still includes Yorkies Knob as a port of call and indeed they are still listing several tours (including 7 hour ones) as examples of tours available??

Very misleading and dare I say illegal (misrepresenting) to anyone making a booking now.

Cairns was still listed when we made our booking although I see from comments on the Roll Call page that it was actually dropped in early October for some reason.

So we were misled and now rather disappointed as we will now have six consecutive days at sea.

Regards Graham
