How to best ensure RCI honors our fixed dining assignment

Recommended Posts

Our extended family of 17 is going on Anthem in July. We have a total of 8 cabins and we were able to all get assigned to fixed dining at 530 which was our choice.

We had the same arrangement leading up to our Dec cruise on Harmony but when we boarded we found out they switched all of us to my time dining. Because our group consists of both young kids as well as older people who need to take their supper medications with food, we want to best ensure this involuntary switch does not occur again.

What is the best contact for someone on the ship to best ensure they honor what we actually booked?

I have had a problem with dining on my last 3 cruises. We had early dining with 2 rooms. The first time we were assigned at 2 large different tables next to each other. The ship was full and they could not change us, so a couple at the next table offered to switch with us.

The next time, I was booked together, linked reservations and we were assigned 2 different tables on 2 different floors on Thanksgiving 2016. Called the TA on board who verified that we should have been placed together. The matrie d said they were full and we could not be switched. I

ended up posting my disappointment on their Facebook page and it was changed the next day.

The last time was a 3 day weekend cruise on Enchantment in December. This time I was proactive and emailed rcl dining. They had 4 of us early dining and 1 late dining. I emailed the rcldining person a few times and she assured me that we were all at early dining at the same table after talking to the ship even screenshooting my information the ship relayed back to her. Lo and behold we ended up with late dining. This time the Matrie d was able to change it upon boarding.

I am going again in Jan with my sister and friends and hope that I won't have the same problems.

Email as stated above, and then go see the head waiter as soon as you board the ship to confirm.

Make certain you have a PRINTED copy of your Royal confirmation in hand when you go to see the head waiter when you board. Difficult for them to argue with a printed copy.

Clarea says it best, email the people at the address Clarea provided.

As for us, I wished we had done that on our last cruise because I kept on asking a few times before the cruise to make sure we get a large table...they kept assuring us, but once on board, it didn't happen at all, we were stuck to a table for two and were rushed out practically at each meal. Meanwhile we saw the larger tables get all the service and attention.
