Cell Service Out of New Orleans

For how long is there land based cellular service after departure out of new orleans on the triumph or dream, e.g. all the way until entering the gulf of mexico? Or does it stop after two hours?

I have AT&T. It seems to work well from the New Orleans pier to around Pilot City. Between Pilot City and the gulf, it is very sporadic and near non existent once you reach the gulf.

Some years ago now, our then-teenage daughter was talking to her boyfriend on her cell phone as we were enjoying the landmarks along the Mississippi. After a time, her coverage was spotty...then non-existent, as I had forewarned here....and then our family vacation began. :)

Yes, I believe the last cell tower is around Boothville-Venice, about 12 miles above Pilottown. Not sure which carriers' towers these are.

I had Verizon and it was hit or miss going down the river to the Gulf. But I had service.

I have T-Mobile. I had good service all the way until I went to sleep that night. I just made sure to turn my phone on airplane mode before I fell asleep.

Last time, around midnight of the day returning to NOLA. I had cell service. Think to myself, I have cell and no one to call at that time. They were all sleeping

I have T-Moble and turn mine off at 930 going out and it comes back on around 130 am coming back. One of my friends has another server and he's gets it a lot longer then I do.

Off topic a bit but how long does it take to get down the Mississippi out into the Gulf?

Summer of 2014 we had (and have) Verizon. We had service all down the windy, beautiful Mississippi almost to the delta. It is a LONG and winding road from NOLA port to the mouth and you do not want to miss the scenery.

Usually about 11pm you are at the mouth of the river and into the gulf. Coming back, you are usually at the mouth of the river between 9 and 10pm.:)

We just returned from Triumph, had service until we went to bed with ATT. I was told you hit the gulf about 10pm. Coming back the gulf was choppy due to the winter storm, about 11pm it was smooth again as we entered the river.
