Allure Jan 2 Notes

After 10 years sailing RCCL we FINALLY boarded an Oasis class ship:) In no particular order, some comments and notes:

Giovanni's and Chops were both very good. Excellent filet in both. Enjoyed the sides and appetizers. Waiter encouraged is to share several pasta's in the center of the table at Giovanni's and they were all great. Desert kind of sucked in Giovani's, none of us were impressed with our choices.

Did the Hibachi at Izumi. Food OK (filet and shrimp pretty good). The preparation and seasoning kind of ruined the lobster. Chef was fun and entertaining. No regrets but we wouldn't do it again once was enough.

We finally had the "world famous" Kummelweck Roast Beef Sandwich at Park Café. Pretty darned good:)

Mama Mia good but could easily be a half hour (or more) shorter and skip the intermission. Beatles Manaics: Good performance of the music itself, but they lacked much energy or "wow" factor. We didn't stay for the whole performance. Comedian Steve MacGrew was a riot. REALLY GOOD.

We had a boardwalk balcony and the two free soda packages were pre-assigned to wife and daughter which made sense as I had pre-purchased a drink package. There were posts here a few weeks ago that indicated some people had problems with getting the free perks assigned as they wanted.

Funny note on photos: The pre-printed ones at embarkation (which we usually skip) were printed with "Ford Lauderdale" on them:D

We had probably the best room steward ever. Really, really nice guy and the service, timing etc were perfect. Staff throughout the ship friendly and great, you couldn't walk by anyone anywhere without them smiling and saying hello.

Overall a terrific cruise. We still like Freedom, Explorer and Radiance class too, but wouldn't hesitate to sail again on Oasis class if the ports and price were right.

Steve Macgrew was an absolute riot. Almost wanted to go back a second night and wait in the standby line.

Glad it wasn't just our photos that had Ford Lauderdale on them:eek:

We didn't go to Izumi this cruise but your comments about it are my comments from the one and only time that we tried it. We had a great meal at Samba as well as Chops, Giovannis and Sabor. I was also pleasantly surprised by the free lunch at JR's, much better than I remember from years ago.
