Cybercsp Posted January 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2017 I tried to search for this answer, but had no luck...sorry if it has been covered. Will our cruise cards be accepted on Harvest Cay or is everything on a cash basis? Thanks.

Rare www3traveler Posted January 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2017 You use your room key for purchases on Harvest Caye. If you have a dining package or a beverage package, the DO NOT work on Harvest Caye.
Cybercsp Posted January 17, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Thank you both for the prompt responses. LOVE CC! We have enjoyed many cruises, but this is our first one on NCL. Hoping for a great week.
js Posted January 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Hi. Can we pay cash if we want instead of using our card? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
slhopper Posted January 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2017 When we were there Thursday the drink carts at the beach ONLY took US cash, not ship key cards. We did not buy anything else that day (food/gifts/etc) Sodas were cheap! 2 or 3 bucks for the bottle.
AshleyDillo Posted January 17, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Most of the vendors I interacted with at Harvest Caye last week said they were set up to take room key cards, cash or credit cards. They preferred cash because they said it took a long time for the cruise line to pay them. We also had issues the entire day with the systems going down to where the credit cards wouldn't work nor would the key cards. They said it has something to do with their cellular service. cmurchake Posted January 17, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Was there 1/11 and used my room key for food, drink, and at a shop. Had no issues at all. Also saw people using cash and credit cards.
js Posted January 17, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Thank you all! Plan on drinking and eating so all good either way. Will be in a cabana next month and really looking forward to it! A Christmas gift to my mom from my family but I guess also for me LOL Happy planning!
CruisinHarvey Posted February 19, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 19, 2017 I just read from someone just back from Harvest Caye, that CAS can't comp those dollars, and OBC can't be applied to those charges.
js Posted February 19, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2017 For two people that will have lunch and a few drinks each is it safe to budget about $150ish before tips? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
MaineYachtClub Posted August 9, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 9, 2017 Since concessions on Harvest Caye can be charged to the on-board account, does anyone know if OBC can be used to cover the purchases?
TheDougOut Posted August 9, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 9, 2017 Since concessions on Harvest Caye can be charged to the on-board account, does anyone know if OBC can be used to cover the purchases? As of June, all Food & Drink on HC requires cash or credit card - no stateroom charging.
cot427 Posted August 31, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 31, 2017 Any updates to this after June? Is it still cash/credit card?
cruisegal415 Posted July 27, 2018 #15 Share Posted July 27, 2018 Any updates to this after June? Is it still cash/credit card? Bumping this to see if we can use credit cards on Harvest Caye, both at the restaurants and at the little food places on the beach? Trying to figure out how much cash to bring. Trying to figure out how much cash to bring. Cash and credit card is correct. But I also wanted to add I was unable to use my American Express and had to go back to the beach and get my husbands visa. Not 100% this is with all the vendors there. It has been my experience that Amex is trickier to use than MC or Visa. Now I guess the next question is, do we have to worry about using the right credit card to avoid foreign transaction fees when in foreign countries? MandyMommyof2 Posted July 27, 2018 #18 Share Posted July 27, 2018 Cruisegal, we had a VISA card that we used and I checked once we returned and everything was okay wit it. We used in all the stops on Western itinerary.

I am now curious too! As we had to use our own credit card last year while in the Beach Cabana and now am left wondering if you can charge to your onboard account and if so - can CAS comp these dollars? As we are FOREVER leaving $ on the table in not being able to use up all of our onboard credit!

When in doubt, and there seems to be quite a bit of it on this subject, just have cash, it's never a problem.
emcelh Posted July 28, 2018 #21 Share Posted July 28, 2018 How much would you be likely to spend for drinks, probably beer and soda and a light lunch? Prefer not to carry more cash than necessary.

Prefer not to carry more cash than necessary. Totally agree. We usually travel with those little hard plastic pouches you wear around your neck so we can take them into the water if we go for a dunk. The credit cards don't seem to be a problem, but cash gets wet!!

This was about a year ago. (They did take care of EVERYTHING else )
