A promo perk giving you 3 specialty meals is a deal breaker on booking a cruise? You said on your last cruise you bought the package. So buy the longer package for this cruise. If you book a suite you get the 3 meal package included automatically so add on some days.

My thoughts exactly. For our upcoming Escape cruise we're going to purchase the 3 night dining package. That we give a total of 6. No big deal.

Quick question, we have the 3 meal SDP with our booking. We also received an OBC. Can we use the OBC to help pay for say adding say 3 more meals to the 3 meal SDP plan for a total of 6 meals?

Yes OBC can be used for anything you buy on board.

Specialty dining for lunch is for suite cruisers only as far as I know, so you don't use the package for that. You get breakfast and lunch included and if you are on a ship with a Haven restaurant you get dinner as well included as long as you use the Haven restaurant.

Huh?

ANYONE can go to Margaritaville for lunch and use a SDP to cover the cost. That would count as 1 of the 3 meals.

The Haven restaurant is technically a complimentary restaurant for Haven guests. No SDP is required for any meal there.

There have been reports of some speciality restaurants opening for lunch on sea days.

From memory, I think Teppenyaki for example. On these occasions they are treated the same way as a meal in the evening I believe.

I'm not sure how common it is. I've never noticed it on any of my cruises, not that I've looked for it.

We've had Teppanyaki open on the Dawn on select days but that was a few years ago and they gave a slight discount over dinner. Someone mentioned the Asian restaurant being open on one of the non-mega ships recently.

The Asian restaurant was open for lunch last time I was on the Gem but that was when it was still a specialty restaurant and not complementary. I was just on the Jade & as far as I know it was not open for lunch - they even had one of the shop sales (tshirts & crap) in there on one day.

We have a 9day cruise booked for November 2017. It has been booked since June 2016. It only came with 3 nights. No biggie for us. We will be getting 2 nights for being platinum. So 5 of the 9 is covered with specialty.

We enjoy sandwiches in room some nights, dining room and even blue lagoon so we are fine.

We have a suite booked for April 2017 and it comes with the full 7 (tips paid) so we want even be using our platinum coupons.

You can use your platinum coupon just to get your free bottles of wine. We did that in October.

Sure. When you board just tell them you want to buy a 3 day UDP. It will becharged to your room, Then the OBC will take off the charges up to the value of the OBC.

Can it also be used towards a Shore Excursion booked onboard? We have a $100 promotional onboard credit for our next cruise and I can't find the terms for it anywhere. I've heard that it can't be used towards the daily service charge. Are there other restrictions.

You can't use it for DSC or in the Casino. Everything else should be fine. We just got off the Jade yesterday. We had some remaining on the last day, so I when I bought Cruise Next certificates, and it was deducted from the price of those.
