Owner's Suite & Surprise Platinum Status

Sailing next week in an Owner's Suite for the first time (good year + no vacation in a while or for a while) and I see where our boarding pass lists us as platinum status. However, we're actually gold and the Carnival website shows us as gold.

Does anyone know if we will indeed have the platinum perks on board as an added perk of the Owner's suite or if that's on the boarding pass just to further help expedite boarding or is it just an error?

Is it possible that you would earn Plat. status during the upcoming cruise? For instance, I currently sit at 67 days, but as I'm taking an 8 night cruise in April, all my paper work says Platinum because I hit 75 days on the cruise (thanks to it being an 8 nighter). You do earn the next status if you earn it on the cruise,

How many days sailed do you already have? If you will hit Platinum anytime during your cruise, you will show Platinum on all your papers but it will still show Gold in the computer until the cruise is reported as taken. You will have Platinum status from day 1 and get all the perks.

does your luggage tag say PRIORITY?

woo hoo your cabin will be ready when you board

Plaitnum goes by the number of days you have cruised-- go into the cruise details to see how many days you have cruised

I will become Platinum during our cruise in February. I didn't realize that my status would change when I purchased FTTF. I spoke to our PVP about it and she said I shouldn't cancel the FFT since I am not Platinum until we are actually sailing. I have read on the Carnival boards that FTTF isn't necessary if a passenger turns Platinum while cruising. I'm confused for sure. Any comments, ideas, knowledge will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you hit the 75 days at any point during your cruise, you will be Platinum from the beginning and do not need FTTF. Look on your luggage tags and boarding pass. They will say "Priority" if you are Platinum.

I've heard that sometimes CCL might give temporary platinum status and maybe so with the owner's suite, I'm sorry, I wouldn't know. I do know that a friend & her husband were gold and all of a sudden their boarding pass had them as platinum --- she saved the documents on her computer --- right before the cruise, she had a price drop and went to re-save/print her documents and she was back to gold ... she used the 'platinum' boarding pass with her to check in and it was caught at the port ... they couldn't explain what happened ... they let her / husband board with platinum (since she gave up her FTTF when she saw priority), but their S&S cards were back to gold.

Firemanbobswife & Mcarney ~ Thanks for the quick replies. I am going to fill in my online documents to see if Platinum actually shows up on them. i would love to have that extra $$ from FTTF for some "slurpy" drinks on the ship! I so

appreciate that everyone shares their info and knowledge on CC! Thanks, again!

That actually happened to my friend when we went on the Breeze, November 2015. She had an ocean suite and I was next door in a balcony. We were surprised when she got her S&S card that it was platinum. While we were waiting to board, she logged onto her account and she had about 30 days. She enjoyed all the benefits of platinum, She was very disappointed when we cruised 11/16 and she was back to gold. :) Enjoy your cruise~

On my last cruise we met a couple who had gotten married on the ship. We started talking to them about it (because we were considering getting married on a cruise) and found out the bride had cruised once and enjoyed it and the groom had never been on a cruise and it was the price savings that got them to go for a cruise wedding.

When they ordered their next drink I noticed they had a platinum card and asked about it. They said they were offered to pay to upgrade to the owners suite and had decided to go for it since it was their wedding cruise, and they assumed the platinum cards were part of that package.

I have zero personal experience, and at the time I questioned if they were yanking our chains and they actually cruised all the time. Butttt.... it does kind of go along with what you're experiencing.

Do you have a PVP you can call to confirm what's going on?

The owners suites are not even listed on the booking engines, but they are real and they certainly are pricey and only on Fantasy class ships. They do up sells when these are available.

Yea, I know they exist now. I immediately looked it up once we were back in port and waiting to disembark [emoji23] but I still wasn't sure I believed they were randomly given Platinum service. Although, that would be one way to ensure guests who fork over enough money to stay in the suites are treated especially well and given extra perks...

We booked our wedding on a ship with an owners suite. We splurged for a grand suite for the first time ever and part of me feels like I'm already paying too much for a room, but part of me hopes they take into consideration things like weddings and offers us the upgrade. IDK if we would even be able to afford it, but it's nice to dream about!

I would be highly surprised if they offered it up for free. It is also significantly more than a GS. Good luck and congrats!

Oh I know it wouldn't be free. That's why I'm saying idk if we'd even be able to afford it. I just wonder how they decide who to offer the upgrade to and what they take into consideration (special events, high rollers in the casino, etc.)

It is a valid question, and a good one. We got the OS for "free" on the Ecstasy when we got on the ship and they had room issues. This was right after they started the Platinum loyalty program and we were one of the two Plats on the ship so we got the room.
