Disembarking in Whitter earliest Flight times Need??

I am reading everything I can about things in and around Anchorage. I think I've got everything planned except for Skagway and Anchorage. We did the Bennett Lake trip bus up train back before in Skagway so I want to do something different this time any suggestions? How far is it to Haines?

Certainly Haines is a great option. There is the ferry which most people take but I like using the combo of flying one way with the ferry and get a nice glacier viewing flight in. :) I usually rent a car in Haines.
