Leaving ship in Le Havre

We are looking at a cruise this summer with last port being Le Havre. Interested in disembarking at Le Havre and not returning to London. Is this commonly done? Thanks!

We did this years ago. We made a formal written request through a TA to Princess in advance. Received approval well in advance so could make our air arrangements.

 

We then book, the tour on Princess, "Paris on your own"... to get a bus ride into Paris. Night before we left the ship, we settled, our on board account then got off the ship with our luggage and took bus tour to Paris next morning.

This has been discussed before. For the most part the answer is yes with advanced approval. But be aware that in the past some ships have not been able to dock in Le Havre due to weather and had to skip this port. Just be prepared that you might have to continue on to Southampton.

Yes, it's commonly done as long as you request permission and receive approval from Princess. As said, there's never a guarantee that the ship will be able to dock.

We were on the CB when it could not make Le Havre last May due to a strike by port workers.

 

The about two dozen passengers who had arranged to leave the ship in Le Havre had to choose between disembarking in the alternate port of Zeebrugge or continuing on to Southampton.

Reading this got me thinking about travel insurance. If you planned on leaving the ship early and for some reason the ship misses that port would your travel insurance cover you? My initial thought is no because you are making unintended changes to your travel, but I think this would be important to find out so your not stuck with a huge bill. Curious to hear your all's thoughts.
